I'll bet by "L.A." Reinebold means Louisiana and the Big 10 school is Minnesota.

That's pretty weak by the Minnesota recruiter

I grew up in the trwin cities, it is too cold there but the cities are actually beautiful, prosperous, and mostly accent free

I'm totally kidding of course. I'm from Kansas and people make similar comments about Kansans, which is funny because Eastern KS is actually pretty nice.

I don't know too many people that did undergrad at Kansas and MBA at SMU. Hmmmm If you work for a homebuilder I know who you are, and therefore you know who I am.

Unfortunately, our limited track record of getting LA kids into SMU and/or keeping them on the team is not great. Hopefully, this year we change that track record.

This should be a great recruiting ploy for SMU as to the academic reputation SMU coaches try to portray to recruits. SMU academics are great and if you want a second tier college education go to a Big Ten school because you are guaranteed entrance.

I just hope the young man does make it into SMU because if he does not it could be another public mess. Especially, since we have some on the bubble with us now that have been accepted to other schools.

well according to statements made by SMU officials during the last year, all the players signing on next Tuesday should be certified as tentative admissions or clearly advised and told what they need to do to qualify by August. Everybody thought this was a great idea and complained about the lack of communication to the recruits arguably from both the school and coaching staff.

As I said then, since you don't always know if they will retake a low SAT/ACT or achieve an improved GPA or SAT/GPA between February and August that can be a two-edged sword. Both kids who didn't get in last year had to re- take SATs/ACTs after last years signing date to qualify and even then you still don't know if that SAT/ACT score will qualify with borderline prospects because their core GPA and core credits in the spring semester must be considered on the sliding scale. Its a moving target because of the sliding scale.

You see this sometimes when certain players who don't project to qualify are dropped in January from schools they have been committed to for months and start looking at those schools that will give them until August to prove them wrong-see the usual suspect schools. I'm a big believer in allowing kids to qualify late but informing them before signing date that they still have some work to do to qualify may have some negative consequences ie decommitments. So far so good.
