I believeI believe It is time for this program to start winning big games -- CONSISTENTLY. We're in year 4 of the June Jones era. This is the year where this program must show itself as a contender and not just a nice little program with some Dec. 18-20 bowl game appearances.
I have my issues with June but I also recognize that this is going to be his most talented team. And I do expect this team to be playing in the CUSA championship game. I believe that some of you fear success because you've not really seen it with this program. It's a mentality. This is a very good team. I believe this defense could be really really good. Pittman just adds to it. I believe our DEs are the best in CUSA. I believe Kyle Padron will make the adjustment and grow into leader and make plays. I believe his ankle injury last year in the ECU game really took something away from him in the CUSA title game and the bowl game against Army. I believe the running game will be fine between Line and K.C. (if he plays). And I believe our WRs are going to be very good. If Johnson grows up, you have a great playmaker. Holman will bust out. I believe this OL...well, if it surrenders more than 18 sacks, I'll be shocked -- is the best unit on the team. I believe the kicking game is a concern. This team really needs a punter to influence the field position. Hopefully, Gansz -- and I really don't care how much he recruits because I believe a program strong in special teams is a stronger program overall -- has used the summer to put a plan in place so those guys have it right mentally and physically. I believe If SMU is going to become the program that Jones wants this to be and thinks it can become, then it better find a way to pick off 1 or 2 of these road games and show that it means business. I believe the Mustangs will. The Mustangs won at Tulsa two years ago -- few thought we could win there. The Mustangs won at ECU last year -- that was a very iffy proposition. I believe the Mustangs are capable of winning at least 8 games.
Re: I believeI don't want to use the word "panic", but as I said after spring ball, we have concerns in the kicking game. Pony Up!
Re: I believeThat's not panic, that's a legitimate concern - no problem saying so.
JJ said that Loftis had the best leg in the spring, I'm assuming that's the answer at punter. Sada was OK at KO's, and at least has some experience walking in at FG's. I didn't see the spring, is it that bad?
Re: I believeI'm really surprised Loftis is a questionmark. I thought he was supposed to be a top national kicker trained by a former NFL kicking coach.

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

Re: I believeI think Coach Jones will come up with something. Even if it is student tryouts like what Leach did.

Re: I believe
I believe that we have to win all the games we SHOULD before we start expecting to beat TCU etc every-time we go out there. let's get a conf championship and another bowl win under our belt and then get the hype machine going a bit "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"

Re: I believeI believe I'll kill myself if another lackluster season is blamed on the Death Penalty.
I believe
Have we forgotten the 2002-ish season with no kicker? Missing PATs, 15 yard punts..... If we have to relive that it is inexcusable. That's what JUCO is for. "I think Couchem is right."
