Indoor Practice FacilityLets not let up on the push for an indoor practice facility....i understand that the money is available...that the school administration just cant seem to find a spot....how about that....thats a first...they dont need money?
Indoor Practice FacilityThey have a spot but need to finish the other construction first...a lead donor has already been secured...
Re: Indoor Practice Facility

Re: Indoor Practice FacilityThey have the spot......soccer will move to Mockingbird practice field.

Re: Indoor Practice Facility
No actually the new venue will be right up front and personal on Mockingbird and with low level seating it will be prominent and worthy of a Top 5 Soccer Program.
Re: Indoor Practice Facility
I heard the new soccer venue might also be track-free which would be so incredible if it's true. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Indoor Practice Facility
Actually the program is trying to get a head.. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Indoor Practice FacilityWell, guys, look at the bright side. If the apocalypse of college sports happens and 4X16 happens or some scenario where we're left out in the cold, we will absolutely be king of the midgets.
Very good news about the IPF, and the soccer stadium. I know they've wanted to upgrade the facility for years with at least a brick housing around the stands, but this sounds much better.
Re: Indoor Practice FacilityActually, my understanding is that the current location of Westcott Field is one of a few possible locations for an indoor practice facility, with an indoor field running east/west across the north end of the current soccer field (closest to the garage) and an outdoor field south of that, between the IPF and Ford Stadium. The plan would call for the destruction of the current bleachers, of course, and probably would wipe out the first row or two of parking in the lot behind the freshman dorms, but who cares? There isn't enough parking, anyway. HP folks can get prepared for more cars on their streets.
Two problems with the posts listed here: 1 - The money might be available for the IPF, but you can't displace the soccer teams until money is raised for a new soccer facility. Don't think that has been raised yet, so even if you don't care about soccer, contributing and helping to raise money for that actually will accelerate the arrival of the IPF. 2 - If the new soccer facility has no track, where will the track team go? The way Dave Wollman has carried on coaching the women after the men's team was ripped away, producing competitive teams and champion athletes along the way, is nothing short of remarkable. I'd go so far as to say he is the best coach and most underappreciated athletics employee in the entire university. He and his staff and their athletes deserve a track facility (there also should be a men's track team, but that's a different argument for another time). So ... where would the track go?

![]() However, my usual campaign ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh well, we will always have Perkins. Competitve teams and recruits are another matter. But, I do want FB to have a great season. Beat the Aggies and the Frogs. BTW, if we get into the Big 12, we can swim the Longhorns again. In the sixties and early seventies, we NEVER lost to them. Dream a little dream of mine. Pony Up
Re: Indoor Practice FacilityYeah, we'll have Perkins, unless the current administration stays in place long enough to let it crumble all the way to the ground.
The school has an endowment of over $1 BILLION, right? They pop up buildings every year or two and will move heaven and earth for the Dubbya Shrine, but can't find the money to do athletics the right way? I understand the university doesn't want to spend all of its money on athletics, nor should it. However, the university EASILY could come up with money for an indoor practice facility, soccer facility, swimming facility and track. Borrow, if need be, or raise pledges for the next 20 (?) years as a way of paying the money back. Stop wasting money elsewhere and do right by the athletic department so we really can be top 25.
