Also in their demands they list ESPN/Texas reworking the LHN. Fat chance of that happening.

interesting development. At least OU can say they tried. On Frog forum, they say Boren is on his way to Indy today. Indy is home to the NCAA. Perhaps seeking some guidance on getting a new commish??

Yeah I don't think much will come of it. They're gone.

Flying up there to ensure NCAA does not re-hire Beebe as an investigator. I guarantee you he would turn up some dirt in Norman, and we all know what happens when Beebe turns up dirt on a program.

If somehow the Big 12 manages to stay together after all of this.... WOW

It would probably be good for us though. We need more time and this would at least slow things down until we go through all of this again next year. Either way I still say OU/UT are gone and OSU and Tech are likely tagging along with them. But if they can stick together....WOW.

This is exactly in line with what I have heard. OU & Texas are going one way or another together and the preference is B12 due in part to academic requirements of P12. The LHN is the issue at hand and there are many options on the table to get this done

Was wondering when one of the schools would start demanding a change in commissioners. Beebe has been horrible.

I don't think this is posturing. In the end, a conference stretching over 3 time zones from Austin to Seattle doesn't make much sense. the WAC proved that. then you have the competitive issues of the PAC actually being TOO STRONG. Why would OU, Texas, Oregon and USC all want to be in the same league and beat each other up? Why would the rest of the PAC want Okie State and Tech? Money doesnt fix everything. Besides, the leagues will probably get more and more money anyway just like they always seem to do (ie when the Big 12 renegotiated last year).

I just don't see that a change in commissioner is really going to save the conference. Its been hanging on by a thread since NEB and CU left last year. Is some new hired gun really going to get all of these schools to play nice?

from the article...replace he with we and I think you have a quotation from Pony Excess (Clements in that case):

The source said Beebe made the decision that appeasing Texas was the Big 12's best hope for stability. “He made the wrong decision,” the source said. Instead, that led to instability, with the departure of Nebraska and now A&M.

No, but maybe Texas has learned its lesson and will behave after having temporarily lost control. Let the SEC over-expand, which could actually end up backfiring on it eventually. 12 is still the ideal number for a real conference. 16 is the product of fear, short term greed and irrationality. 14 is marginal.
