Read this. Free article on Scout. Check out what it says about SMU

http://smu.scout.com/2/1367669.html

This guy is one of the top WRs in the nation and he's in our backyard and this is the kind of effort we're putting forth. I can accept losing out to Oklahoma or LSU for a big time prospect- that's going to happen. But I can't accept half-assed efforts like this

Take this story
Multiply by 50

SMU calls the coach and ignores the recruit-confirmed by quotes from recruits-it is the norm not the exception. Its why June Jones is entering his last year at SMU because his recruiting is unacceptable

Yep we sure do-Rivals repeatedly reports the same thing with quotes from recruits

In facr, there is an almost IDENTICAL story on Rivals right now on a another big time WR prospect from WACO

At what point do you process all these data points. For these things not be true a lot of folks must be lying.

So are you saying that the kid's dad and his coach are lying? It is an interview and they simply answered some questions. Why would they lie?

One of a million articles with direct player amd coach quotes about the embarassing post-Klemm situation here.

Where is MustangsAbu to try to justify it?

The problem with Hart is that he already bought the excuses from June. He told me jones doesn't recruit the top recruits because it's too much time and commitment required with very low chances of getting a recruit against the top schools. The problem is he doesn't put forth much if any effort with 3-star recruits either.

Hart believes we're in a tough spot. We cannot compete against the public schools, not even referring to UT and a&m (which already goes without saying to him) but even against the ucfs or Houston's of the NCAA. Add to that we're not a premier academic institution ala stsnford, Vanderbilt or NW, and we can't compete for those athletes that may not want a public school since they can have these options as well. There are excuses across the board, and I don't believe Hart genuinely thinks we can differentiate ourselves.!

The truth is you can make excuses about every program and situation, and it's too bad our own AD doesn't think like LB does, where he has publicly stated that we don't have anything to envy any other program when we position ourselves holistically (great school with great academics, in a great city, with traditions in place). Heck, Ucf may be large but they had no football program up until recently. They didn't let that hold them back. We need folks that are doers, and right now we only have LB, which we should all be thankful for.

If AD Hart told you that then that is truly unfortunate,.

Like June knows a thing about Football recruiting in Texas?

Give me a Coaching staff with 6-8 out of 10 coaches that have resumes that approximately resemble Jerrance Howard, Ulric Maligi, and K.T. Turner-or Adrian Klemm and we'll see if SMU can compete. Guess what? SMU can compete for top recruits-maybe not many 4-5 stars but top recruits. June has done the EXACT oposite except with Klemm who proved it could be done. He's never tried hiring a coaching staff full of younger, agressive coaches with Texas ties so how the hell does June Jones know. He knows that old farts with few Texas ties who sit on their [deleted], telephoning offers into high school coaches and fail to establish personal relationships with recruits can't compete in recruiting. Guess what I knew that the day he was hired

I agree which is why this is disheartening. The problem is that those running the helm clearly don't. Hart doesn't understand tx recruiting, and jones is lazy and believes he can coach up all the 2-star or NA ranking filled roster we have.

This guy is a receiver- you know, the position that JJ has consistently put in the NFL during his tenure at SMU, AND he says academics are important to him. I'm not saying we should be able to sign a player of his caliber, it would be a coup for sure, but we should at least be competing for him. Early playing time, the chance to put up huge numbers and get in the NFL, all while getting a great education to fall back on if pro football doesnt work out. And he's in our backyard....and June doesnt give a [deleted]. It's infuriating. What the [deleted] does he do all day?
