To do for CM: Build a home field advantageIt may be due to their team's performance, but the TCU crowd has gotten much better/louder during the games and you can notice it on TV, similar to how our Moody crowd was last year. This one is on Coach Morris, the team and the fans alike for 2015. Be early, stay late, be loud.

Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageShocking. You mean being in the top five might actually help build a crowd? Who knew?
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageNo need for sarcasm bud. I meant it more about the enthusiasm and the new traditions of the crowd.

Are you going out to FW to support your Toads today? They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

My toads? This is getting old, sbsmith.
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageAny organized effort has gotta come from the SMU Athletic Department. I have tried to work with the athletic department privately and they are very cautious about helping private efforts out in some very important ways. Let's pray for some out of the box thinking hires.
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageHCCM also needs to push RGT and the AD to bring back the track team. The speed coaching is a big component at many schools. Look at the OSU punt return on OU by Tyree Hill, Big 12 sprint champion, to see the impact of having that track program on your football team.
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantage
Just need to find the funding which might be a little hard given that they need to cut $35 million in expenses right now and that it would mean probably having to add another women's sport. Just hoping the athletic department has a marketing budget next year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Peruna is my mascot!
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageIt's a good thought and a good aim, but in my opinion Morris needs to focus on one thing and one thing only, the football team and its performance. If we allow focus to fall on attendance he is going to get very frustrated. We will not see big crowds at SMU for the schedule we have, except for when the opposition is bringing them. It's just a fact. People won't come out in droves for games they don't care about unless SMU is a top 5 team in the hunt for a NC. We could be ranked and we still wouldn't fill Ford against the likes of East Carolina.

Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageShould have put it better. SMU needs to reinstitute the track program. That is what the AD and the school need to do for HCCM. Lack of a track program not only hurts our football and basketball programs, it also hurts our marketability to a P5 conference.
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageNeed to build a consistent winner that competes for AAC Championships and can actually compete with our former SWC mates who have moved on to P5 conferences. I'd be pleased if we could develop a loyal home crowd of 20-25k who would show for games against anyone we bring into Ford, including AAC opponents or non-conference opponents from CUSA or the SunBelt. Games against any P5 opponent would be sold out and we might actually have a slight home field advantage. I would expect next year's Baylor game to be a sellout and would hope UNT will come close to selling out because I expect UNT to bring a good crowd
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantageThere's no way a sunbelt opponent results in 25k at ford.
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantagewe aren't adding any track team. Not going to happen.
also -it would have no positive effect on basketball
Re: To do for CM: Build a home field advantage
Go with that....and go with lack of financial support of mens athletic programs which will keep us down here. It is a conundrum...I truly feel programs like T&F and possibly baseball are key to getting into a P5 conference in the future, but we might have to have the additional funds associated with being in a P5 program in order to support these programs. Sure as hell know it wouldn't have a negative impact on any other program.
