TCWho writer talks about SMU "rivalry"Makes you reflect on what the program has been since 89...I think we may be in the same spot as UConn and ntsu in not having rivals anymore...

Re: TCWho writer talks about SMUThe amount of comments on that story alone tells you it's still a rivalry.
Have we been pulling our weight? No. But the recent wins we have pulled in the series wreaked havoc with TCU. For a few years during JJ's reign there was legit local chatter about our matchups. Think what can happen once Chad gets going. Bottom line - thx to the ADs at both schools - this game isn't disappearing. ![]()
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMU
Our rivalry has been uneven from the start. Generally, one school has been dominant for long periods of time. Right now, they are dominant and will probably stay dominant until we make it into a P5 conference or they lose Faterson and replace him with Junesus. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMUSMU vs TCU rivalry = North Texas vs SMU rivalry
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMUNot a rivalry? Think back to our victory four years ago and near miss a year later. Who will forget Patterson's reaction to the loss or his reaming out the team doctor at Ford the following year for not letting his concussed running back return to the game. Sure looked and sounded like a rivalry then.
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMU "rivalry"
This. Good opinion skyscraper.
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMUPatterson is the main driving force for keeping SMU on TCU's schedule.
The SOS argument rings hollow when TCU continues to play Grambling, Samford, etal every year. I think that TCU should keep SMU on the schedule every year with the understanding and with advanced notice, TCU can skip a year or two if a good OOC opportunity pops up for them. If it's a rivalry, Y'all need to fill your stadium for the skillet game because I don't think TCU fans are interested in filling it for you with frequent road games @waco @lubbock and @Austin, Norman, Stillwater.... The crowd for the Skillet game this year was pathetic.
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMU1 win every 10 yrs doesn't necessarily result in a rivalry
TCWho writer talks about SMU "rivalry"History is not written for 10 years. Is there a reason you choose to ignore the 15 or so years we beat them in a row?

Re: TCWho writer talks about SMU
Is there a reason you choose to ignore what the writer says in his third paragraph? For your benefit, here's what he says: When SMU got the Death Penalty after riding a long money train of wins (The boosters bought the players that led to an impressive 15 straight pony wins over TCU), things changed in a big way for the TCU and SMU programs.
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMU "rivalry"I was responding to the post above mine. And we knew how to beat TCU before the short era of death penalty pay for play.

Re: TCWho writer talks about SMU "rivalry"
Better to be the SMU boosters that buy the players that beat TCU 15 years in a row than to be the TCU boosters that buy the players that lost to SMU 15 years in a row.
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMUUmm wasn't TCU horrifically dirty throughout the 80s as well? They just went the collaborative route and nuked themselves instead of giving the NCAA the double bird like we did? Kinda disingenuous to imply that we kicked their rear end for a decade in a half because of cheating while they sat praying at the altar.
Re: TCWho writer talks about SMU
Yep. That's what makes it comical when any of our SWC mates try to call us out for cheating. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
