HC Chad Morris

I have monitered this site for quite some time and since I didnt attend SMU was hesitant to register. After Wed,I decided it was time. I have been familiar with Coach Morris a very long time. I have known him since he taught High School Algebra! Trust me SMU you have a GREAT Coach that will turn it around! His Uptempo style takes talented players & he is getting them. I believe the Defense was a huge dissapointment last year but he will fix it. Probably cost SMU 3 wins. You will see some improvement next year to around 4 wins and maybe a upset. The following year will be the Big change.The task at hand will take some time. Coach Morris recruits character also. At the end of 2017 SMU wont be worried about a QB not signing or backing out on his word. In 2017 SMU will have 2 major problems: Stadium Capacity & keeping Morris at SMU. I know some will laugh at this but time will prove me correct.

Our 2017 home schedule sucks so stadium capacity won't be a problem though you're right about the keeping Morris thing especially if Aggy has an opening.

I would love to see SMU give CM a retention bonus.

He stays here 5 years, he gets a $7.5M bonus. It would be well worth it from an SMU perspective. Won't prevent A&M, but may prevent lower schools from poaching.

I dont think the money matters right now. He has a huge task at hand and I dont feel he would leave till he turns it around. I remember when we asked him his Goals in life. He told us to be HC at a Major College! He was in his late 20s. We laughed at him. I told my friends lets hire him.I dont know that he will be a College Coach but he can help our little Town. Salary was about $47,000 and a small frame house across from only store in Town! LOL. Next 2 seasons we are in Texas Stadium playing for 2A Championship! Celina broke our dream but it wasnt from Coaching. The talent was on Celina side of the ball. Then Bay City came calling... I will forever be gratefull for what he did for our little Town.

That's awesome, Ole! Great to have you. Hope you make it by the Blvd sometime and meet up with the crazies from PF.

If Morris is thinking about money he knows his hard work now will result in a payday at some point, be it from SMU or elsewhere. I really hope it comes to fruition here and paying him isn't an issue because we are getting big seat revenue and sponsorship money.

I do know he is very happy at SMU. He loves a challenge. Only think he was down after the last Ballgame. That was because Team kinda gave up. I dont think that kept him down long. Everyone knows he has spent lots hours recruitting and I feel he is bringing in lots of upgrade talent wise. He has a blueshirt I think will start in 2 years. I just hope people are patient.

I agree. In fact I made a post during the season asking everyone to be patient and allow him to recruit a few classes. Not worried about him leaving before his contract it out because I believe that he is committed to the contract he signed with SMU.

People that get it are patient. We love that he's here and can't wait to enjoy the payoff. If we can keep basketball going it's going to be really fun around here in a couple of years!

I wont be a big poster on here but just wanted to give a little insight into Chad. I have always loved SMU. Was a huge fan back in the day of PonyExpress. Watched Eric Dickerson and Craig James! I don't recall Chads Red Bull back in the day. Red Bull probably wasn't around back then. I had saw a few Post on here where folks were very concerned about the QB going to Memphis and felt it could really hurt SMU. Maybe this guy really didn't fit, and I don't mean talent wise. If you noticed there wasn't much effort to prevent him from going. I really doubt Chad is worried about that QB. A waste of energy. If I know him like I think I do... he is already working on his 2017 Recruiting Class and how he is going to pull off an upset next year. Lets hope and dream that the Baylor, TCU & UH games end up as 1-2 instead of 0-3 on the overall record. Then we will know SMU has turned the corner.

Olejacket,I am like you in that i did not go to SMU, but have been an avid SMU fan since I was a kid. I go back to the Hayden Fry days. I admire your in common passion for SMU and totally agree with you on Coach Chad Morris. Being from the Austin area, I am quite aware what he he did at Lake Travis HS. I definitely feel we will be in a bowl game in 2017, and maybe with some luck with turnovers in a game or two, may sneak into one this year
