Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12Per CBS claiming multiple sources:
Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff presented details for a potential media rights deal to leaders from member institutions at a meeting on Tuesday, though ultimately no agreement was reached, according to multiple reports. "Pac-12 board meeting was "positive", per a source. The quote I got included the phrase "excited and aligned." Why hold another meeting? Some members of the Pac-12 CEO Group need to get final approval. More soon." "If you were hoping for a neat and tidy resolution to Pac-12 media rights today -- no dice. Sources: The primary deal presented to Pac-12 executives/ADs today was an primarily Apple streaming deal. The deal would have incentivized tiers, which would give it strong upside *if* certain subscriptions numbers are met. w/ @CFBHeather No decisions on the deal or any schools pondering other options are expected immediately. Campus leaders are digesting the possibilities of a stream-centric future and the variance in potential income. The money piece is tricky because of the variables of subscriptions. 2009 Ponyfans Rookie of the Year
Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12The PAC12 AppleTV deal better have the same guaranteed money as the Big12 deal, PLUS incentives that bring them over the top.
Otherwise, why take the risk if you can leave to the BIG 12 / BIG10? I'd rather my team show up on ESPN / FOX with guaranteed money. Last edited by Blvd_Stang on Tue Aug 01, 2023 2:42 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12My prediction:
All who can leave PAC12 for greener pastures, do so now. SMU joins what left of the PAC12 on a weaker media deal. Better than AAC, but what's left will hardly resemble a P5 anymore. 2009 Ponyfans Rookie of the Year
Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12
Well, that would certainly get me to keep my Apple+ subscription all year long, as opposed to subscribing and unsubscribing based on the occasional movie Apple releases that I might want to see. College athletics (i.e. various sports) would keep me interested basically year-round. P.S. If you haven't seen them, Greyhound and Spirited should have both run away with Oscars. Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12
The AAC won't get more money but they might get more viewers than the PAC on Apple.
Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12Per ESPN sources:
After months of negotiations and uncertainty, Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff on Tuesday presented the conference's presidents and chancellors with a potential, primarily subscription-based Apple streaming deal for its television contract that expires after this school year, according to multiple sources. According to sources, the first year of what's expected to be a relatively short-term contract with Apple would start in 2024-25 and begin relatively low relative to the league's hopes. But the deal, sources said, would incrementally improve and potentially be competitive with its peers in the Big 12 and ACC down the road, provided certain subscription numbers are met. full story here: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/38116124/sources-pac-12-leaders-presented-apple-streaming-deal "It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league”

Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12Would “potentially” be competitive down the road? They’re toast. Ugh.
Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12I guess the depopulation of the PAC 12 means SMU will coast into what's left.

Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12PAC 12 TV Deal vs. Status QUO
According to article below, AAC's current TV deal, which runs through the 2031-32 academic year, pays about $7 mill per year. If the PAC gets even half of what the Big 12 is getting then it's a good deal in the short run. What happens in the long run will depend what the nine holdovers do. I assume there will be more vacancies. https://www.on3.com/news/conference-tv-deals-current-status-college-football/
Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12The number I heard was around ~19 million per school for the Apple deal. Not only would that be all games are streaming only and require a subscription, but the football package would be an addon to the standard subscription. More money for the school, but less people actually watching the game and almost no casual football fans tuning in. What does this do to recruiting?
The longer this goes with nothing, the more teams are going to look to bail. Arizona Board of Regents called a last minute meeting today. Things are looking a little sketchy.
