We might not be the best team in the WAC But man Im so proud of our Defense...

Even if we have given up almost 40 points! They have given their hearts out there!

Last year you never wouldve seen SMU get in fights...There has been pushing and shoving after the plays which shows they actually care!

Im just wondering why is Boise State THROWING the ball. They have this game won. But oo well (nevermind just realized it was their 2nd string QB)

yeah, the special teams play is discouraging because thats where young guys with ability should be able to contribute. I was starting to believe the last few recruting classes had an upgrade of ability. We should be seeing the sophomores and redshirt freshman making their mark on special teams. Where are guys like Avery Cleveland, Zack Hall and Richuel Massey?

If you want to find a positive, realize the good job the coaches did adjusting at half time. There was some very poor run defense early, but the defense adjusted and performed better in the 2nd half. I like to see a coaching staff that can adjust during the game. We were out manned in this one but other than special teams, I think we were improved overall.

Methinks that was encouraging, gentlemen. The D is going in the right direction. If they can somehow decrease their total # of plays they're on the field, there will be fewer breakdowns.

btw...LaTech over Fresno. Interesting.[/i]

I'll admit I am probably in a bad mood, but I am tired of being outmanned and not seeing physical progress. I can deal with losses (plenty of practice) but want to see the outline of team that can line up and compete head to head in D1. Lets be honest, Boise didnt come after us like TCU would. There have been plenty of instances of moral victories over the last 6 years too: close loss to NC State one year, Tech two years ago and this, TCU last year, Fresno several times. But it doesnt seem to carry over and the blowouts keep coming. Look out for Rice next week, if we dont figure out how to rap up ball carriers they are going to have a field day.

Final 38-20. Commentators kept saying "This is nOT the same SMU team we saw last year" Great job Ponies! 3 dropped passes and the failure to take advantage of the interception on the Broncp 12 yard line hurt us but we can hold our heads up! Progressi s being made!!

The special teams performance really hurt us this game. The O was non-existent the first half but was respectable the second half. Considering the time the D was on the field and the field position, I think the d did great. This is not the blow out it was last year. Our Pones are improving.

Right now the moral victory in this game is the only one I even thought we could get!

We had a 37.5 line againist us and we only lost by 18!

We are still the youngest team in the nation and we played a very good game againist a great Boise State team who has the Nations Longest Win streak at 17 games!

If this was last years team we wouldve been gone and out a long time ago! I expect us to play Rice VERY good next week and actually Im expecting us to beat them. Rice is having A LOT of trouble againist San Jose State. Its 41-28 at the moment with Rice being up..Earlier in the game it was 34-7 Rice..Rice letting SJSU back in the game

We will not be able to line up and go one on one with these guys until we have a stock pile of experienced, big, muscled up lineman. The cupboard is being filled but it still is going to be next year before you begin to see improvement in that area.

It sure doesnt feel like our boys are 1-4 on the season..

It truely only feels like we lost 2 games.

That Tech game and the Boise game tonight just made me feel a whole lot better about our guys for next year

I think a big part of our poor special teams play is the lack of quality depth on this team. Bennett is still building this thing and we are really thin in the LB corps, a critical element of special teams IMO. I want to see a couple of LBs with wheels signed in next year's class. I think we will see more of guys like Hall and Cleveland next year. It's easy to forget these guys are RS Frosh.
