i am so sick of hearing all these "feel good" stories like a player survives a car crash and then leaves his cocaine addiction to get his PhD in electrical engineering....all while his dad is dying.

its not ridiculous. He's already seen USC stomp Illinois, Missouri stomped Arkansas. He's trying to score big to stay ahead of those teams in the rankings. Plus obviously there are more games ahead. Hell arguably Georgia could claim they deserve a National Championship. That's the system we have. You guys watch too much NFL Football. This isn't a playoff where style points don't count. This is about winning and winning big. Style Points do count.

If it were going to be the same players on each team, you might have a point. But how many of these players are returning next season? And how many are returning on other teams? Just because your seniors (and juniors who left early) beat the crap out of someone in December or January does not mean you should be ranked high in August or September the following season.

lets just say that the key players for UGA are returning next year and this game will speak volumes on where they are ranked next year...probably top 5

So if they had won by 21 instead of 31, they would only be ranked maybe in the top 15? That's the point. Either way, they win by a sizeable amount considering this is a BCS bowl. There was no need for them to try to run up the score on that 4th and goal play in order to improve their ranking next season.

June Jones can get even by coming to SMU and then recruit (quietly of course) Stafford to come home to play in Dallas his last two years - and get some passing yards under his belt since all they will do from here on out in Georgia is hand it to the next coming of Herschel Walker.

well I don't know about the 40s but I can tell you about the last time SMU had a real football team and an undefeated SMU lost out on a National Championship because it didn't win enough games with "style points". Then the next year we were reduced to the Sun Bowl even though ranked No. 6 because we didn't win with enough style points. Look the Sugar Bowl announcer just asked the Player of the Game if he thought Georgia deserved a National Championship. Shocking.

I think most non-biased fans think UGA is should be in that game, not OSU. All the ones I know do, at least. Not shocking - they dominated all game, going for it on 4th and 5 while up 30 didnt make the reporter ask the question.

What's wild is this year, Ohio State benefitted from not having to play a title game. In the last couple years, it seemed to hurt the teams that won the Big 10 (like Michigan, for example).
EDIT: Why even ask the question "do you think you should be in the national championship game"? What's he going to say, no?
