Better? That is a very subjective statement. USNEWS puts Tech at #160 (71.7% accepted) and ECU #194 (69.5% accepted). Tech endowment: $434 mill, ECU: $98 mill. Both have an associated medical school. Tech's research is "high activity," did not see what ECU was. ECU has 27k students and Tech has 31k students. Hard to say ECU is better by those numbers. In football talk Ruffin McNeal the interim head coach after the Mike Leach firing is now the head coach of ECU. Schools seem very similar in where they are positioned in their respective states, with tech pulling way ahead in funds and research grants. If they were closer geographically they seem like they would make great rivals.

the only thing ECU has going for them is student enrollment and very, very passionate fans. But NC is still UNC, NC State, and Duke country. I almost decided to go to Wake over SMU for law school...talk about disinterested fans. Nobody in NC ever even mentions wake, and they are freakin AQ. Blows my mind how lucky they have been to be in ACC.
