It hasn't hurt USF because they have aggressive recruiters. Also, you have to go for talented kids. JJ came here saying that he was not going for the talented kids but that his offense would score regardless. We don't offer many kids with BCS offers because the staff as a whole is not aggressive. I have spoken with some of them personally and they are not aggressive.

Many aren't even prospective fans. Many couldn't care less about SMU. They're just there for the party.

I didnt read the whole thread but this guy needs a clue. We havent seen a game like this from the O in a long time. Not many drops, good throws and catches.

Defense was awful. Their QB looked like Johnny football. have to get better.

If it wasn't for Mason - we dont win many games in '09, '10, '11 (key players on D during that time)

Thank goodness GG is coming together for us.

Is this thread for real? I read the first half of a post and decided it must be a joke.

The original post is a joke, as is the one who posted it. To the op, if you can't grasp that the overall responsibility of the football program (from offense to defense to special teams and recruiting) lies with the HC, then you are the one that either doesn't get it or you're simply a June jones supporter. Either way you are not supportive of SMU, and if you want to cast blame then just look to JJ. He did a good job at the beginning, and he was well respected. He's tarnished all of that, and he simply does not care to be here. The only rotten and bad thing left with SMU (creating this division and lack of support) is JJ and his cronies. The direct cost (and opportunity cost) of keeping him around is too much for SMU, the alums and fans.

Most of you pay no attention to what I say because of your preconceived notions as to who I am and what my motivation is, but I would suggest we should all sit back and enjoy the benefits of having June as our coach. We are breaking all the all time smu records.

You don't get it we buy tickets and give to the Mustang club year after year. Each year fewer and fewer come to see mediocrity. Eventually you and a few hundred can watch SMU play d-II football in Blooming Grove High School Stadium.

That would be WRONG :!: :!:

Just a few short years ago, during the hasBennett years, we were worrying that we wouldn't
make the 15000 per game AVERAGE per year to stay in NCAA Div 1A. Although, we don't
sellout our cool stadium every weekend, we do once or twice a season. Attendance has improved
the last 5 years, over the the previous 5.
May the forth be with us.

No it hasn't-there has been no improvement in attendance in 3 years and we are going lower this year. Look if you want to fool yourself that we have more than 15,000 real SMU fans be my guess but the fact is our legitimacy depends entirely on TCU, Tech, A&M and Baylor. Do you want to know the truth? I think I would laugh my [deleted] off at the REAL numbers if we really scheduled some of the powder-puffs some of you want

Nope 2010 is not correct because SMU added in the Armed Forces Bowl into its average season attendance numbers which is a LIE. The rest of SMU's 2013 home schedule will have attendance in the teens so the average is gonna go down, down, down. As I said there has been no improvement in 3 years. In fact, attendance is going down. Very likely to finish at about 19,000 or so average per game. Take out the opponent's fans and All Star Cheerleaders and the usual YMCA groups etc etc we got 15,000 fans.

Don't think so, it was regular season attendance by the NCAA.

Anyway, that would just make the % increase greater for 2012.

Have a little integrity-that was not a Home Game-it makes it even more embarrassing when you have to lie to make the attendance numbers look good

We're not likely to get any help from the AAC teams since many have attendance problems of their own. Tulsa, Tulane, Houston. And the rest don't travel very well. ECU with its vaunted home attendance, brought few to Dallas. So I say sell beer in the stadium (check IDs, but kids are gonna drink anyway, didn't you) and keep up the publicity in Dallas big time. DMN better coverage would help a little, but maybe our best bet is Larry Brown and Bball. Who knows?

There was a YMCA reference! I'm reminded of a song...

Fun with numbers! The true measure is what our attendance was against teams who brought just a few hundred (or maybe a thousand) of their own fans. Compare our attendance against schools like Tulsa, Tulane and Rice for a better comparison. Stallion is right. We have maybe 15k football fans of our own and how many season tickets have we sold during all those years???
