Starting to think JJ did way more harm they he ever did good. Left us with the worst team in FBS by almost any measure. Years of recruiting before we ever become a viable top 25 team, heck top 50. Never connected SMU to local HS programs. And has created a huge rift between recent FB alumni and SMU, which will further hamper recruiting and turning around the program. He did the cheap us vs them, instead of being a real top coach and unity the school and team. This will also further push away a dwindling fan base. JJ is a hall of fame coach only in his own mind.

Thank goodness for LB as a reality check to all of this insanity, and how a true world class hall of fame coach operates, builds, and unites a team, university, and city.

As arrogant as their comments are, I hope Hart does his best to reach out to all the past JJ players, and makes sure this negative press campaign around. Invite them to the games, practices, address any problems, whatever it takes. Otherwise we are just getting shot in the foot all over again. Recruits read twitter, to many that is more informing than any other news/media, or beautiful tree-lined campus. A lot of this is obviously just out of fustration for how bad the team has gotten, but this season is going to get a lot worse before it gets better, so this needs to be addressed.

Also APSM (Applied Physiology and Sport Management) is part of the Education School. It was partially created for this purpose. SMU has athlete friendly majors. They also have an education minor for becoming a teacher. Like any school we could do a better job ensuring atheletes finish their degrees, SMU used to be top in FBS for this, only under JJ did it fall way down.

I'm not sure they existed when Beasley started here. Again, why would you go to a college that doesn't offer what you want? Then complain about it after you leave?

I agree. It as hard to tell reading what was posted here, but when I read on Twitter in context there was a clear difference between what reed was saying and what beasely was saying. Reed was criticizing the team for not playing with passion, got briefly sucked into whether the school supports the team enough by Beasley, but went back to focusing on the team needing to play hard even if only for each other. He also said he is coming back to get his remaining hours and was not complaining about having to do that like Beasley.

For shame Beasely, so many of us cared for you guys during your tenure at smu and beyond. Nothing excited me more than seeing him win a spot in the Cowboys roster and then becoming an actual staple in the offense. Reading the stuff he said just makes me shake my head... He's acting as f he's too good for SMU, the same school that gave him a shot to grow and develop and now he's in the NFL because of that.

I really do think Hart has to completely clean house from JJs remains. Bad bad bad culture here.

Hart needs to do what it takes to turn that around, sooner rather than later. More bad press and misinformation will only hurt recruiting a coach and players.

Not that an offensive genius QB guru caused this mess, must have been that pesky admin admitting all minimum ncaa qualifiers, adding athlete friendly majors, updating facilities, changing the stadium lights, paying 2MM a year for a HC... those guys are the ones that ruined this with poor recruiting and an an outdated obscure offense implemented with poor coaching by their buddies, oh wait who was that?

I'm still disgusted. And Kimbell goes and rubs their back and tells them that "true fans" will still appreciate them and that they represent SMU well. What part of Tweeting "I never want to set foot on campus again" to the largest fan base in the World is representing well? Oh well, it's clear they went to June Jones University not SMU...and they wonder why they feel like outsiders.

Really disappointing that Beas has this attitude and lack of support for his university. I guess he is now showing his true colors.

At least we have a few real 'pros' like TM, ES, and Beach.

I'm sure beas can go back to crap creek or what ever that place was and get his daddy to get him a job coaching JV.
