If enough of their players transfer and if the program is in total disarray we might have the chance to start 2-0! Shake It Off Moody

Re: Briles out?
Dale Hanson was on 105.3 yesterday and said he wouldn't be surprised if Baylor put in similar restrictions to what SMU did after the death penalty. He said the pendulum would swing the other way and make Baylor non-competitive again.
Re: Briles out?I just don't see how they can let Bennett be the coach with Briles Jr running the offense.
They must be thinking they just have to get through the next 6+ months, offseason workouts, camps, August practices and 12 games, and then they can clean house. Still, even the used car salesman Bennett can't sell recruits on this mess with an interim title. Recruiting will be a disaster. And honestly, if you don't have Bennett recruiting, why bother having him around? He isn't that great a defensive mind.
Briles out? There are more calls for Baylor to shutter athletics in the first days after this got serious than I recall ever seeing regarding PSU. First, that is disgusting... But I guess kids can't vote. Second, I think that shows there is a level of disgust here for the school and process they took and their recent history that suggests prior precedent may be invalid when predicting potential NCAA involvement.
There are reasons to doubt anything will happen this summer... namely the fact that there will likely be multiple federal and state investigations going on as civil cases begin to hit discovery and trial. We know NCAA investigations don't mesh well with criminal ones. Having said that, there is a taste of blood that permeates the reporting on this and an undercurrent of dismay at the gall of the program and participants for how they carried out these acts. And as we well know, the NCAA loves to use past acts to bolster current charges and as reason to increase punishment. Nothing Baylor has done has really taken an edge off their history and these acts. They hired a firm well known for using kid gloves and writing preferential reports for clients. They then released a limited report with wide swaths of data and information withheld to "protect victims privacy rights." They only acted when forced to by a gathering lynch mob, then attempted to impact public perception with a partial and potentially misleading report release, much like their coaches attempted to impact potential allegations of rape by changing the facts and preventing due process. Baylor has public opinion, the federal government, civil litigants, victims, and the NCAA after them for a collection of acts over a two decade span that put recent ethics and legal scandals in the NCAA ranks to shame. Do I think they'll get the DP? No. But they could and i wouldn't be surprised one bit. I do believe they will received the super special Dean Werner double secret probation and IF they manage to keep their football team relevant...you will see another investigation that brings it down in the next 5 years. Re: Briles out?NCAA isn't going to spend a lot of time investigating any allegation of criminal activity at Baylor. The NCAA Bylaws don't have a section on investigating criminal codes of conduct. The limited jurisdiction the NCAA has over this matter is whether Baylor exhibited lack of institutional control of its athletic department and even that jurisdiction is suspect since it relates to underlying conduct not proscribed by its Bylaws.
The NCAA is going to review the Baylor Investigation report for thoroughness and completeness and probably accept their findings and conclusions admitting illegal and immoral conduct by Baylor's Coaches, athletic employees and administration including Kenneth Starr. Baylor will also get significant credit for taking remedial action with its 7-8 month investigation conducted by a private, independent firm though its Board of Trustees-significant evidence of actual Institutional Control by its governing authority. Baylor notified the NCAA before Notice of Allegation were received and will terminate many of those involved. There really is not much else for the NCAA to look it. They have no business getting involved in investigation of criminal matters. They don't have subpoena powers, witnesses won't cooperate if testimony might incriminate themselves or if it hindered law enforcement investigations. If the governmental criminal and civil investigations reveal new information then the NCAA could re-open but I expect the NCAA to move pretty quickly on a cooperative, mediated punishment agreement. The NCAA can not be the entity which imposes the entirety of punishment for its illegal acts. We have Federal governmental agency oversight and state and federal courts to impose financial penalties for criminal and tortious conduct. Re: Briles out?I can't see Kendall Briles staying on staff. Can you imagine every game the TV shot of him and the continued conversation of his Dad being canned. The media narrative will be bad enough without that reason to keep harping.
Re: Briles out?I want to see Kendall stay and see if he is the offensive genius people were claiming he was now that daddy isn't around.
Don't forget Art's son in-law is on the staff too. Got to love nepotism!
Re: Briles out?
NCAA overstepped the PSU case. I don't think they will do that again with Baylor. LEOs and DAs run criminal investigations, not colleges. That said, the WPD and MCSO are catching a bit of heat out of this, as is the DA's office. Unlike those that want to align this with SMU's investigation/DP, Baylor may have even more on their plate than we did regarding PR and future sanctions, self imposed or otherwise. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Briles out?I like everybody calling for Mike Singletary. Yes, what Baylor needs right now is a guy whose most famous moment as a coach was him walking into the locker room at half time and pulling his pants off.
