80 yard IPF is PERFECTLY FINE and will be a stellar facility for our program. Everything we've been in the last 20 years fits perfectly into the overall SMU aesthetic. This has been the planned site for a year.
Well then I say shame on whoever released the renderings of the not-happening IPF. When you over-promise and under-deliver, you will always get this kind of response. They should have just announced, the IPF is going to happen in 2017-2018 be on the lookout. Not, it's going to be happen soon and here's what it's going to look like. If they were selling that to someone, I believe it would be called false advertising.
Exactly. Over promise under deliver. What exactly is going to be stellar about it?

Barr Pool site is where the IPF will be. After BoT approval you should see dirt flying in February. It will fit in with the overall campus aesthetic. When has SMU ever just "thrown up a tent" on anything. Good grief.

5% of our campus is tennis courts. We have a multi million dollar tennis center with like 12 courts, then 100m away behind CVS we have 6 more courts (and a lacrosse field, yay). Then there are 2 more courts in burleson park on university blvd. So if you walk half a mile from tennis center due north up through campus you will pass 20 tennis courts. Tennis anyone?

Our multi-million dollar tennis court was supposedly one of the Top 10 facilities in the world. Why are our tennis teams so underperforming?

The tennis coach has had 25 years and Top 10 facilities to build a top program - so good point!

From what I see, our Men are ranked #40 & the Women not ranked in Top 50.
We are a Country Club school with arguably one of the best, if not the best, college facilities, which will now be opened for 3 years as of next February.
Look at our Golf program.

I would be perfectly fine with a school that has a Top 25 Law school, Top 20 Business school, nationally competitive Tennis, Golf, Swimming, Soccer, Lacrosse & Basketball programs, and No FB.

soCal - I think you may be on to something. Use Ford for the soccer field or drop fb to div.3. then we wouldn't need to worry about coaches salaries etc. After all, if this fball hire fails we can just become a bball school and save a ton of money (especially on the cost of an a.d.).

Like Georgetown! Emory doesn't have [good] hoops. I'm not sure what it'll take but being ranked in the top 50 academically will help attract a lot more applicants. Emory has a huge Asian-American candidate pool.
