Yep this was in one my earlier posts. People think he's just double speaking but to me it sounds like he's off the board. Insert "this is fine" GIF
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech?Looks like Traylor interviewed this morning
http://www.rowdytalk.com/showthread.php ... lor/page36 and pay seems to be in range of what we pay SD Mustang from India
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech?thanks for the info. very interesting. hope they sign him up and leave SD alone.
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech?
ONLY thing that will drive attendance is wins. Stick it out and build a successful program then young alumni will come to the games. It all comes down to 22-45 year-olds who remember winning games while students or are excited about seeing their alma mater finally be good.
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech?
Agreed...'11 as far as crowds at Ford Stadium think of UNT as a replacement for Temple. You know UNT brings a bigger crowd to Ford than Temple, or East Carolina, or South Florida. C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech?
Good search. Saw this and curious if it's true: "Man?he?s gone. Several of the assistants started following Tech fan sites and bloggers." Also, a nice flashback, "Remember, Traylor was named Interim HC at SMU when Chad Morris left expected to coached the Frisco Bowl and then left for Arkansas. He didn't stick around to coach the bowl game." Insert "this is fine" GIF
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech?
Fair point. I just see too many negatives for us sharing thebsame conference with them. This must be what it's like to be a UT fan. ![]() Insert "this is fine" GIF
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech? This is the DMN regurgitation of what Indian Mustang shared earlier in the audio format.
"Not in terms of action. So, is SMU about similar with Texas Tech? Probably. Because at least right now, Sonny’s got something built to the point where he can be undefeated, he understands his model, and he gets to live in Dallas and not in Lubbock." If it ends up coming true that SD stays with SMU and let's say Traylor declines as well then that's a pretty scary statement for the Big 12 where a middle program can't poach a coach from the G5. It also removes the idea that ESPN is trying to attack the Big 12 when this is coming from fox sports analyst. https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/smu-mustangs/2021/10/28/national-analyst-doubts-that-sonny-dykes-has-interest-in-texas-tech-a-power-five-job-in-name-only/ Insert "this is fine" GIF
Re: Sonny to leave for Tech?- JJ didn't quit and leave because our attendance sucked. JJ quit because he couldn't connect with leadership and alumni (that is on him), and didn't feel like he was getting the support needed from the administration to create a successful football program. Many of the changes he wanted did not get put into place until LB and CM demanded them.
- CM didn't leave because of attendance. He left because again, he didn't have the personal skills to work with the administration and alumni to get what he needed (IPF, recruiting budget, etc). So he knew he couldn't build a successful program here in the long term. He also always viewed us as a quick stop. - SD isn't going to leave because of attendance. He is going to stay as long as he has proper support of administration and alumni. He has the personality type and relationship skills that it takes to get things done at SMU (IPF and other commitments). - SMU's attendance will be fixed when SMU establishes itself as a legit, winning program AND SMU advertises to the locals to come out to a game, and makes it easy to get there. SMU is always going to have mixed success attracting college graduates in the suburbs to adopt SMU as their "second team". That is NOT, for example, how Moody filled up. Moody filled up because we had a winning, legit team and a great, professional atmosphere that everyone wanted to be a part of. Yes, we got the "it" crowd with Jerry Jones, Romo, Whiten, the Mavs, all those guys showing up. But we also attracted everyone in Highland Park, University Park, Uptown, the folks East of 75, and South Dallas. And a couple of people from suburbia. There was a mix of everyone there. That is what becoming Dallas' team is all about. To get 35K out for football instead of just 9K for basketball, you have to encourage the folks in Uptown, East of 75, and South Dallas to come to games, make it easy to come to the games via light rail, welcome them to campus and provide a legit gameday experience. The legit in-stadium gameday experience is lacking right now at Ford. It is quite a contrast from basketball, and is part of the reason why we don't attract the locals. Fixing that needs to be higher priority than a football operations center, IMHO.

@TimShep_ #Breaking: No interviews have taken place, but hearing reports that Art Briles has been contacted by Texas Tech and if the board and donors approve, he would accept the job. Interesting reports after the strides being taken to lock down Jeff Traylor. https://twitter.com/TimShep_/status/1454173018519973890 Mustang from India
