Chris approached me at the car wash on Preston Road at Lovers Lane a few months ago and asked me if I would sell him my S.M.U. license plates. I cordially told him there wasn't enough money to buy them away from me.

Thought I would mention that this is the best thread on the board. Great to see the pictures of the teams of the past.

I'm not certain, but I believe the previous decal was 1955, or so.
Humble (now ExxonMobil) used to come out with a different version every year
Here's the 1957 version with the schedule back:

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

This thread seems to be sagging.
Here is the 1948 Humble decal:

*Sigh* Chuck Hixson and Ricky Wesson.
He's another SMU QB who made some waves, Fred Benners:

Lance McElhenny either quickly dumps it off to the open
receiver, or gets sacked for a loss during the Alumni vs.
Varsity game in the spring of 86.

Looks like Ben Hummell and Jerry Ball closing in! Ben went to UCLA with David Richards after the DP.

I think I remember the running back taking off towards the
sideline as Brian Duncan. Notice the Mustang Band in the upper
right corner. Are y'all playing at the game Saturday
