coming into this one, I really thought SMU had a chance and I felt this game was critical to any hope of accelerating the turnaround of Mustang football. Barring a comeback unlike we've seen in I can't remember how long, looks like we're just not yet ready for prime time.

Really sad we can't play with Rice and can't seem to defend the option. I still think this team can find another win or two before the season is done, but I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up against an option team.

really too bad, I've felt good about the last couple weeks with this team, but they've really taken a step back so far tonight

Beer won't be enough to dull the pain. Maybe I need Old Hemlock.

Actually the option is only a part of the problem. They seemed to have made some adjustments. 2 crummy plays by the punt team and a fumble put Rice contol of the ball 3 times inside the 30. This is just sloppy and unfocused.

people on this board have underestimated Rice all week, I understand what happened to them last week doesnt look good, but Rice will finish in the upper portion of the WAC this year. Just too bad that our guys havent played anywhere close to their best tonight

I think I'll go watch TV for a while to see if I can find a football team to watch. This is just a nightmare. Other than TCU, this is the worst 1/2 of football we've played this year. We all giot excited about the 1 game winning streak. Who was that talking about bowls this week?

After that last fumble, then return by Rice, then fumble by Rice, then subsequent return by Rice, I don't know that I've seen a more horrid half of football in my life. And I've seen a lot. Makes me glad I spent the ten bucks for the video instead of investing the time and energy in the drive to Houston.

I am watching via Owl vision and I might want my $10 back. Not from Rice but from SMU.

An absolutely embarrassing first half.

It's hard to believe that Rice lost to San Jose State.

Hope for a miracle in the 2nd half, and really hope for no more insertions of Romo.

My highspeed went down again right after I paid the $10. So I'm watching it on dialup. Good god. It basically amounts to a blurry slideshow of various "standing around between plays" photos. The entire first half, I did not actually witness a single play. But i was able to intermittently listen to the Rice announcers with what sounds like weed-eater running behind them. Oh well, better than nothing, almost.

This is bad, folks. I expected a better effort here. I didn't think we would stop the option that well, but I did think we'd have more than 3 points at half.

I think Diehard may be on to something. We should all send Copeland a letter asking to reimbursed for our ten bucks on the premise of "bad faith." That is, we presumed SMU would exercise diligence and put forth some semblance of an effort. They didn't, and we suffered damages...the trauma endured by watching.

Who knows? Maybe I'll be singing a different tune after the game.

If you think about it, I believe we have been witness to one of the poorest stretches by any program in NCAA history. How many teams can say they've lost more games in the last 5 years than the Mustangs? I can't think of many. Hey at least we are consistent.......ohh.. Second half is about to start.... I need something to kill the pain. I'm going to down a quart of vodka and hope the pain goes away.

What the heck is Bennett thinking about Romo????

Eckert was the only bright spot of the first half. I don't know about you folks, but Bennett is not scoring any coaching points with me. I just don't know about the guy. I want to like him, but I am extremely disappointed with him as a coach thus far.

Keep in mind, San Jose State scored 70 points on this team last week.
