No, I mean you REALLY need to lighten up and have a cold one and check out a chick or two on the Boulevard.

Was there a specific problem or incident in the SMU Student section of the BLVD that has prompted this action or are they just freaking out when they hear about all the drunks at these other party schools around the country?

I think i was just presenting what the new policy was going to be and telling what mmebrs of IFC are planning on doing in reaction. It is clear u know me really well, because i am planning on still going out there and showing some friends who are visiting this weekend a good time and taking them to the game. Oh but you forgot to ever ask if i would be going or not? Will you be out there on the blvd drinking lemonade and eating cupcakes? See you out there I will have me some cold brew hahas...

It has to do with all the incidents at other schools i am sure, but as a memebr of the fraternity system it is easy to notice that the universiyt and the university police have been cracking down on the greeks all year at the houses, on the blvd, and wherever else they get the chance.

This is typical of SMU. In dealing with college kids drinking, they have always tried to prevent it as opposed to admiting it is a part of college life and deal with it. I remember when Pony Rides was started. You could call up and get a free ride home if you were too drunk to drive from a student volunteer. The dean of student life opposed it as he thought it encouraged binge drinking. It was really offering a safe option for college students who go out and god forbid, drink too much!!!

On which part? The lightening up, the cold one, the chicks or the Boulevard? Are you even going to the game? 'Cause I'll bring you a beer if it'll help.

I'm passing on both. But you can bring me a lemonade like the other guy suggested.

I think SMU is making a very big mistake. If anyone can seriously foresee an alcohol related death because of the blvd, then they are crazy.

Now I like drinking before noon as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure how drunk you can possibly get when kickoff is 2 pm.

Yes, there are risks involved when serving alcohol on the blvd. Of course people who are under 21 are going to drink. And there is always a possibility that someone will get behind the wheel and kill themselves or someone else (if you're 21 or not).

Making every SMU student who wants to have a beer or ten show ID one or ten times is a little over the top. If their goal is to weaken support by the SMU student body: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

What is it that they say? Necessity is the mother of invention?? Basically, where there's a will, there's a way. I'm sure you can come up with some ideas to keep the campus bulls off your case and still enjoy a few pops on the Blvd before the game. I still have faith in the SMU greek system!

You can come on down to the South-side of the Blvd where all us alums set up shop. If you need a safe house, come by my tent on the Blvd and you can enjoy your beverages there
