You know guys this isn't a very helpful argument. I hope that all former Mustangs will support the school but when one says something derogatory, it may be a way to focus attention. ED did that if nothing else. I also don't like the "he was paid to play" argument. ED could have gone anywhere and been "paid to play" during that era. There are many who still are paid to play but, hopefully, not at SMU anymore. He did play at SMU and was one of the best whoever did. So was Dandy, Gregg, Mayes,Livvy, Levias, Maxon, Morris, Louie, Biily Bob,Griffin,Richardson, Hixon,Whitington,Russell and Michael Carter, Lance--well, you get the idea.
I'm glad ED played at SMU and I'm not going to bash him or other players for being disgusted by the lack of commitment by SMU to its athletics. Let's honor those who made SMU athletics a proud tradition and ask them to help rebuild instead of critisizng them. They aren't paid spokesmen for the programs. I. for one, am glad they still care. Let's quit the bashing and try to get them re-involved. The argument about who did the most or least is just stupid. I'd rather honor them for their efforts and their commitment while here. If they stay involved that is another honor for them but if they don't, it is counter-productive to bash them.
