They look much better than the red/blue mixture we have now.

I liked those jerseys. They're unique and look classic-traditional. Our uniforms have already turned into near-replica's of Ole Miss since I was on campus ('01 to Class of '05) -- now it is finally complete.

I saw this picture posted on another board by an SMUer -- and if we keep the red jerseys and add the white stripe like was mentioned-- this is exactly what our uni will look like...

I'm a huge Ole Miss fan, but I don't understand why our school's uniforms keep looking more and more like the Rebels. I understand Turner came from Oxford -- but why would he change the football unis? We had a classic looking uniform.

The Ole Miss uniform is a classy look. I say we incoportate the UCLA inserts and maybe change the helmet decal to "Ole SMU" -- and pronounce it "oh-lay". That might be more appealing, considering our changing demographics.

Changing demographics? Seemed like there were lots of CA kids my freshman year ... but everything has really gravitated South-Eastern (perhaps b/c SMU is trying very hard to associate itself with Vandy). I know CA is the 2nd most admitted state (8% or so), but if you add up GA, TN, AL, MS, FL, ARK, and LA (Louisiana) -- they amount to almost 35% of the population ... along with the 50% already in-state.

Anyway, Ole Miss is a classy uniform - we could be copying much worse. I just still like the uniforms we had in Fall 2001 better, esp. the white helmet with red mustang. Of course, if SMU won games no one would care about the uniforms and their changing wouldn't make the news. But I did call the Athletic Dept, and am placing my order for SMU 2005 Season Tickets next week. Look to see a much improved team, if nothing else- on offense so the games are fun and entertaining to watch.

GO MUSTANGS.

This is what happens when you hire a damn Aggie as your head coach. What do you expect from a guy who was a zipper head in college. If we go to the Ole Miss uniforms start hitchin' up the bandwagon. This could rank right up there with Cavan's Jets Jerseys as worst SMU uniforms.

I personally like the white helmets the best...we should just stay classy and not conform to the new nike styles...I was thinking that the stripe would be similar to the Denver Broncos. However, I think it would not be that bad if they had the stripes on the shoulders similar to UCLA.

White helmets look terrific on middle school teams and Texas. Also, the stripes "like UCLA" have an proper name: they are "UCLA inserts". And, if you are for real, all you really need to know is that SMU does not have a "traditional" uniform... it has always been a head coach's whim (or maybe his wife's idea). Kinda like TCU, Baylor, TT, Rice, Tulsa, East Texas State, Tyler Junior College and a lot of other also-rans. Evidently, it is not important or someone with authority would put their foot down and say, "this is the way it's gonna be." But, nobody seems to have that inclination or the guts or maybe it is just not important.

I'd take aggy any day over a sand aggy from Lubbock
