Baylor Sells Initial AllotmentModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Baylor SHOULD have a great "following" for this game! Baylor has almost as many alums in the metroplex as SMU, which is understandable, because who would want to live in Waco? Plus it's Labor Day weekend, and mix that in with a chance to get out of that rat's nest and come to a real city. I honestly hope that Ford is full on Sept. 3rd, see ya there!
How does one get or use the DMN discount? I have 4 people that now need tickets and I would love to get a discount. Class of '91
How does this make sense? You say that we have as many alums in Dallas as SMU doesn, but those alums want to get out of the rats nest they live in and... come to the city they live in? A "real city". But you just said they lived in that city, so why would they leave that city to come to that city, because the city that they left, the rats nest, is the city that they are going to? ... ... ... Do they require English at SMU?
BrianTinBigD:
There are instructions over on baylorfans.com. I think it involved going to the page at smumustangs.com where you buy tickets, and entering DMN as a discount code. Presently I'm trying to read all of the pf.com preview before going back to the office, so I'm too lazy to go over to the baylor site and read. See ya'll at the game!
If that's the case, then you need to be more clear. Your post should read something like this: Baylor SHOULD have a great "following" for this game! Baylor has almost as many alums in the metroplex as SMU, which is understandable, because who would want to live in Waco? Plus it's Labor Day weekend, and mix that in with a chance for the students to get out of that rat's nest and come to a real city. I honestly hope that Ford is full on Sept. 3rd, see ya there! See, the problem is that you make the statement that there are many Baylor alums living in the Metroplex, because "who would want to live in Waco?" That leads the reader, the comprehensive reader, to believe you are talking about Metroplex-residing-alums when you begin your next sentence with the dependent clause "Plus it's Labor Day weekend and mix that in with a chance to get out of that rat's nest..." Do you see that there is no transition from discussing Metroplex-residing-alums and the town of Waco? Now, someone mindful of your feelings toward the city of Waco would be able to draw the line, but what you actually wrote did not communicate what you wanted it to. I'm just saying you should try to be more clear when being so unnecessarily vehement that the Baylor alumni are going to outnumber SMU fans 2-to-1.
I've been through Waco about 150 times---Has anyone ever spent more than about .99$ there during any single trip? I think I bought a Dairy Queen Double Dip Ice Cream Cone there once. Its purpose in life is to provide rest rooms for people traveling from Dallas to Austin.
I'll easily spend close to $40 there every time I go to Waco: Gas: $38.00; 20 Oz Dr. Pepper: $1.00; Package of peanut butter crackers: $.50; Package of gum: $.50; Getting the hell out of that $hithole as fast as possible on the way to Austin: Priceless. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
The Whataburger on the southbound side across the highway from BU is usually a pretty good place to stop. On the northbound side, Denny's never disappoints. I now avoid Interstate 35 altogether by taking Hwy. 281 all the way to San Antonio. Two-lane blacktop (with some 4-lanes along the way) and gorgeous Hill Country scenery, too. Unfortunately, Burnet and Marble Falls are like traveling thru McKinney and Plano because of the traffic but other than that....it's the only way to go! And I can avoid seeing that damn tower and campus in Austin, too! ![]()
Whoa whoa whoa! Now you are talking about the "fancy" places to eat; those places are hard to get into in Waco, what with all the anniversaries, weddings and proms that they hold there because everything else in town is just a notch below the Wafflehouse. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
We're talking restaurants and Waco???
Yes.. ! I love E-coli.. What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
I love that, because you cannot defend the fact that we will outnumber you in the stands and beat you on the field, you start making fun of the city where our school is located... I am SOOOO offended. Our football team may be bad, but atleast we can actually talk smack about FOOTBALL every once in a while. In 2003, SMU went 0-12 while Baylor went 3-8 including an impressive win over Colorado and an unimpressive win over SMU. Last year we both managed to have 3 win seasons. The difference is you beat Tulsa (4-8 ), Nevada (5-7), and San Jose State (2-9). We beat UNT (7-5), Texas A&M (7-5), and Texas State (about the equivelant of an SMU)... You can say how much better your team is bc you have grown up and your no longer the youngest team in the ncaa and all that BS, but weve grown up too. We were the second youngest team in the NCAA last year. We are better than you on offense, better on defense, better on special teams, and we will have more baylor butts in YOUR stadium than you will. I guess my point is keep on talkin about how crappy our city is, cause thats all you got. September 3rd you will realize that. BU 52 SMU 10
