Phil Bennett Puts Job on Line With Ridiculous QB Decision

I've wondered about the QB situation myself. Doesn't Phillips still have a RS year? With 2 senior QBs, I wonder whether Bennett isn't thinking about having Phillips RS and bringing him back as the heir apparent, with competition from Willis next year. Those guys would have 3 and 4 years, respectively, of eligibility and a softer non-conference schedule to maybe taste some early success. I wonder whether Bennett isn't comfident with his contract extension that he will be around for 2006 no matter what happens this year. I've been pointing to 2006 as the year our OL & DL finally mature (anyone notice how many upperclassmen Baylor had in their lines?) and a lot of our skill guys will have a couple years under their belts, too.

I hate to start looking forward already, but after last night I need some kind of defense mechanism to prepare for the possibility of another winless season. Will we have a weaker visitor this year than Baylor? Don't look now, but ECU beat Duke (a team that many expect to be much more competitive this year). I also find myself looking back and wondering how this team would be doing if Charlie Waters was at the helm?

I too was dismayed when Bennett sent in Eckert following the fumble recovery. I could not believe my eyes! What was the coach thinkin????

Geesh! I just don;t understand our coach's decisions.

Where or where is a quaterback?? Is it Number 7 standing on the sidelines each game?
Heaven help us this week.

Do ya think DMN's Calvin Watkins asked him about this decision following last night's game? Or will he be asked about it during this week's lunch?

No coach's lunch this week because of Labor Day. There will be a Thursday morning coffee instead. I think it is at 7:30am in the stadium club.
Just send 'da money.
