Funny, I actually always thought the conventional wisdom was that former defensive coordinators make good offensive play callers, because they know better than anyone what's difficult to stop. Bennett has been the exception to that rule, if there ever was one. Although I should point out again, that even though I thought (along with everyone else) that his decision to go for 2 in the Tulsa game was inexplicable, if you check the "chart" that all these coaches use, it really does say to go for 2 in that situation. So if Bennett was dumb there, so was the guy who made the chart. Whoever that was.

It appears so...I heard from someone I trust that, according to one of the QB's, the 4th down and 4 play before the half was all Bennett. Of course, that is one of those decisions that if it works you are a hero and if not...you are a dumb SOB.

going back to last year's decision to go for two (yes, I acknowledge that was "by the chart"), I will chalk that call up to Bennett following the percentages because that's what an inexperienced coach will have a tendency to do...manage "by the book". I personally respect guys who have a good enough feel for the game at hand and their team to go against the grain...and prove to be successful more often than not. I did not like the decision to try and convert that 4th down at that point in the game anymore than I liked the 2 pointer last year. I'm waiting for Bennett to have some success with any of his decisions. I'd like to see whether Massey gets more carries this week and whether the Romo/Eckert combination can put more than a goose egg up against TCU

Some one please remind me.

Wasn't there some kind of time limit associated with the "committment?"

How does that compare with Bennett's extension?
