The aforementioned "storied" stadiums may be "dumps", too... but you can't tell because they are full, packed, jammed, overflowing, etc. for each home game... recruits love that stuff. If you can't cover all the seats with butts, then you gotta have a "pretty" stadium to show recruits. Notre Dame has rail-sized bench seats about 12" wide but who cares... it's full. You gotta offer comfort and amenities to make up for the crummy team. Now, when you put together an exciting (winning) team with a great stadium like Ford... you got the best of both worlds.
*raises hand* If SMU starts winning each week, then Ford Stadium would not doubt be filled up every weekend. Fans from the Boulevard would start coming into the games more. The on campus thing is obviously huge for us cause students can find out if we're winning or not and run and stay in the stadium (case that happened on Saturday cause only those two bottom sections were full to start the game and it ended up being both top and bottom sections). People want to see SMU win. And that is obvious. CUSA fans have already shared their love for us on beating TCU. Now lets do it again Saturday night and we can have a packed house for the Tulane game. ![]()
