Are you sure about that???? I don't think that is correct. I have many time seen the refs indicate a player was down before the ball came loose, i.e., the ground couldn't cause the fumble. They always look to see if the ball was loose before they hit the ground.

Forget the fumble part of the equation since it did not occur...

But, as I understand it, the loss of ball simultaneous to returning to the ground (he was fumbling/stumbling as he was running the route) is not a catch, interception or recovery-- it is incomplete.

Ok, I maybe stretching the point here...but my understanding is that first to determine whether or not the ball was caught, the receiver must have control of the ball...in this case he did. Next once you have control of the ball, he was then down by contact, i.e., with the DB...which would then mean the ball was fumbled, but only because of contact with the ground...therefore it was not a fumble. I've always thought the whole issue of whether or not it was a catch was the control issue. What am I missing here? The kid tucked it away in the crook of his arm...he had control.

PK, if it's not 'complete', there can be no fumble...

Where I side with the closest ref to the call is that it was incomplete. As he (#18)) was falling to the ground, the point of the ball is moving out of the cradle of his arm so that when he hits the ground it falls helplessly to the ground.

Of course, later, Rodgers (#18) illegally 'picks' (READ BLOCKS) the Utah DB (defending DuPriest) & TouchDown-- "TC Who" wins.

OK....they replayed that sucker at least ten times and I watched it every time...the first thing to hit the ground when he came down was his right elbow. The ball wasn't going any f'ing where until his elbow hit the ground. His hand was over one tip of the ball and the other tip of the ball was in the crook of his arm. The closest ref couldn't see his right arm and elbow and thus the need for a review of the play...I'm done.

I thought the insane call on the catch at the end of the game where the Utah receiver steps out of bounds and the line judge keeps running the clock. This is one of the worst officiated games I have seen in a long time. Also, I loved the look they had of Patterson on the OT touchdown where he was looking for the flag on the illegal pick and then finally celebrating when he saw none. God that crew was awful!

I like how he gets fired up for a game. He is arguably our best player. He backs up the talk.

Oh he didn't last week? The team may not have shown up, but Rodgers, next to D Martin was the best player on the field... 189 yards total offense and our loan touchdown.

He's got a mouth, but the kid just makes things happen and backs up his yap. Glad he's just a JR...

Relax, Sensitive Drama-Queen Frog...I said "I wish he would get hurt," not "I wish he would get killed." Anybody who showboats and runs his mouth with his team down by 11 the way he did Saturday deserves, IMO, at the very minimum an extreme case of cauliflower ear. I'm not picky. Heck, I'd even settle for a bloody nose.
