San Diego Frog wrote:For your information USF did have a good program the last two years. Oh, and by the way we might of had a 5-6 record last year but we have been to 6 bowl games over the past 7 years.........

Anyway, yes we might have wrecked a chance for a BCS buster this year but at least the MWC is the first to do it. And if we have enough teams go to bowl games it will not matter. Furthermore, to tell me if MWC would have offered you invite to join their conference you would have declined is laughable..... You would have been jumping at the opportunity. Plus if I was an athletic program I would rather come and play in San Diego, Salt Lake, New Mexico, Colorado, Las Vegas, etc. than some of the venues SMU will be travelling too. Let alone the great football playing conditions in these venues. Sunny almost all year round with nice temperatures and low humidity. Yeah, reallllyyyyy sucks...........................

Obviously you took geography at TCU. Ever been to Laramie in November?!

I do not see SMU having jumped at the chance to get back into a situation like we were just leaving in the WAC.

I'm just dying to get back into bed with Airport Al and his Gang of Five. No way in hell do SMU fans want to be a part of the MWC. How many layovers from Fort Worth to Provo? You think Gunn's passes have been high so far? Watch what happens to them at 5000 feet.

Yeah, it must really suck being a TCU fan and knowing your teeam got its @ss handed to it by a spare coach like Bennett, huh, loser?

Too bad that San Diego Frog will be the only froggie not having to stay up past his bed time to listen to the games. If I lived on the east coast I might not mind SMU joining a conference out there, but it sure would not be good for the primary base of fans.

Dear Frog-

You are wrong. There is NO WAY NO HOW SMU would have joined the MWC under the circumstances TCU did-all by your lonesome. The issue is whether it was in TCU best long term interest to be in the MWC. We will have to wait for the answer to that question. So far recruiting has not been negatively affected but the sparce number of Utah Fans for one of the biggest MWC games of the year failed another important test. 25,000 people for a game many claimed all over your board in the last year would draw 40,000 plus. Don't deny it-there were also ridiculous gross exaggerations of expected turnouts for BYU, Air Force and New Mexico.

Stallion, I find you to be the most objective poster over here, but this is one is off base.

Sure time will tell on whether or not the MWC deal pans out, but the competition right now is much higher and much more respectable in the MWC than the new watered-down CUSA.

As for the attendance last night, Utah brought just as many fans last night, on a week night mind you, that SMU/Houston/Rice/Tulane/Tulsa has brought in recent memory. So, worst case is a wash for us, and we're playing more name nationally recognized programs.

Yes, we had 25K last night, no execuses. I think alot people's bubbles were burst after last weekend and the pregame showers didn't help.

It remains to be seen how good the competition in the MWC has been. I expect UCLA to dismantle OU. Utah is a shadow of their former selves, etc.

So far the MWC is 11-9 overall, 4-5 vs. BCS Schools.

So far CUSA is 5-10 overall, 1-10 vs. BCS Schools (Duke).

If you don't wanna be in the BCS, what are you playing for? Surely you're playing for more than just the skillet every year...

Same as y'all, to be the best non-BCS team we can be, since neither one is ever gonna get invited.

I have mixed emotions reading this thread, but one thing is for sure. SMU and TCU were "left behind" in the break up of the SWC because we are what we are...small private Universities that haven't shown the ability to attract a large enough following to make us "big time, aka BCS". Granted, there are schools in BCS conferences that don't belong...and I will say that TCU has done a terrific job trying to build a program against long odds...but last night's game just confirms what we all know (but some continue to deny). 25,000 for a national TV game against the 1st team to crack to e BCS bubble confirms that try as they might, TCU remains a "mid major" program.

I congratulate the frogs on their win last night. Good job bouncing back from a heartbreaking loss to SMU...which now looms even bigger as that win over Utah coupled with the win at OU...if TCU had taken care of business against the Ponies they would be smokin' hot right now as the next "BCS buster".

Let's watch UTEP tonite. Wonder if they will draw better than 25,000? Admittedly, they are playing a Friday night game (still up against H.S. games) and Houston might be closer than Utah was to Cowtown, but in terms of programs with a real upside...UTEP has tons of potential. It's all about $$$ these days and if UTEP had the success TCU has enjoyed the past 6-7 yrs, I'd venture a guess it would be hard to find a seat in the Sun Bowl and that the MWC would have invited them over TCU.

As for SMU joining the MWC, I hope it never happens. I'm thankful the WAC would have us when nobody else wanted us, but as an east coast guy, I'm happy where we are. And...don't think for a minute that BYU and Utah wouldn't jump at a PAC 10 invite if it ever came. The goats will stab you in the back again, frogs. I hope it doesn't happen and I hope our rivalry does become meaningfu again soon. In fact, how about next year we meet in the Ft Worth Bowl?

Frog Fan:

You can thump your chest all day long for the rest of the season about the wisdom of moving to the mwc and that you're so much better than lowly SMU. Regardless, if TCU finishes 10-1 and SMU 1-10 (both highly unlikely) we still won this year. I think we all can promise you SMU would not have joined the MWC even if begged. Our rivalry with Rice or even Tulane is more compelling than "Laramie in November" against TCU. Enjoy reading the box scores from out west on Monday.
