Stallion, no matter what you tell people, they will never get it. Yes, everybody paid players. But not everybody paid players; got caught; kept paying players; got caught again; swore they had stopped paying players; swore they banned for life the primary booster paying the players from having anything to do with SMU; kept paying players; kept letting the same banned booster pay players; and then get caught AGAIN.

But, but, but, somebody should sue the NCAA for SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT. It's just not fair....

People forget, somebody tried. Thrown out on procedural grounds. Fans and alumni don't have standing.

I know, I was attempting facetiousness. Apparently it did not work.

Where is UNT in the Texas Div II 1-A standings?

Postby Sam I Am » Fri Nov 11, 2005 6:48 pm

Granted that the majority of the non-BCS Div 1-A schools are in the CUSA, where is UNT in the standings? Answer: they didn't play any Div II 1-A teams this year and are not in contention for the 2005 title. For shame!

It did; most people just don't know that somebody did try to sue.

I would say that Ohio State is getting pretty close to your scenario, Blog.

Yes, we had some real "winners" in those days running the ship. However, Jackie Sherrill was no saint in those days at A&M. Jim Wacker was paying, but losing at TCU. The Whorns had some under the table bonuses going, they just never got investigated because their president chaired the Enforcement Committee. (Read "Meat on the Hoof" sometime). We deserved the death penalty. Today, the SEC is doing the exact same stuff. Read the investigative report on Alabama sometime. Or how about Minnesota (if you want academic fraud). Or let's take a trip down Michigan avenue with the Fab Five getting the Fab $$$$ and then Michigan doing the same thing in football several years later. We deserved it. Other schools deserved it, but didn't get it. But Lord help us, if we go back to doing what we were doing.

Ooooooh, a six game winning streak, which by the way is now over. When it gets to 15, you can talk.

SMU FOOTBALL = 2005 MWC CHAMPS

How about 14-2-2 from 1949-1966. No? Well, we're still up on you 40-39-7.

I know you all are just trying to drag in some Froggies to liven things up so I'll bite. I would certainly trade a loss to SMU (almost) every year in exchange for a top 10-12 BCS ranking (which is about where we should end up). I hope you enjoyed the win and I look forward to the rematch in '07. Good luck against UH.

HOW??? WHAT??? WHY???

[1] SMU over UTEP;
T H E N:
[2] UTEP wins CUSA title game & hosts Liberty Bowl vs. MWC school;
T H E N:
[3] TCU snubbed by BCS, has maybe 2 choices--
a- step up to Liberty bowl for $1.4MM, the Frogs play UTEP (also a loser to SMOO) & loses to UTEP on 12/31;
OR
b- TC Who runs away from chance to rectify SMU loss & goes to
Pu$$y LasVegas Bowl and splits $800K w/ MWC.

Given my "a" scenario, it could be a great New Year's Eve!
