The real story is that SMU, TCU and Rice were run by eggheads who DESERVED to be left behind and were simply riding the coat tails of the state schools and had not tried to be competitive. Not one of those schools had completed a major athletic facilities upgrade in 40 years.

Stallion, I agree for the most part, but what do you call Ford Stadium?

I'd "call" it about 6 years too late

I was responding to the post that UT left SMU for dead. They had every right to and you know what they would have been fools not to. It has been proven to be a fabulously great decision which has brought the university unprecedented wealth. It was the egghead Presidents of SMU, TCU and Rice who didn't place a sufficient value on membership in a BCS level conference like the SWC that should be condenmed for making the split inevitable.

Vince played one series in the second half. He's only played 2 full games all season. I think the exact opposite can be said for Matt Leinert. I'm pretty sure there has only been 2 games where he's been pulled early.

As far as the Rose Bowl matchup is concerned, I would give Texas the edge simply because of the defense. Of course, in a game like that, you can pretty much throw the regular season out the window. It should be interesting (assuming UT clears the last two hurdles).
