ignoring the truth makes people look bad too, and I have to agree with Eaststang, I think UT has a very good pro-team this year. I was also watching part of the LSU Alabama game on Sat, and I heard the announcer say that both teams, and most teams in the SEC had lines that were simliar to the pros.....does that strike anyone as odd?

Really makes you sad doesn't it, that SMU ran its pro team in such a flagarant and arrogant manner that it can longer have one.

Dear Mr. Blog,
I didn't say "lost fumbles" by Young. I said he's put it on the ground and Longhorns have recovered it. As I said, it will hurt them one day.

Man, that is a huge intellectual leap there. Who would have thought that a fumble might hurt a team. Any theories on the meaning of life while you have your thinking cap on?

As a matter of fact, Bevo Breath...... UT has been fortunate enough have not lost many of the fumbles they had this season. Vince Young is just hully- gully enough with the ball that I believe it will cost them at a critical time.

If UT wins the Rose Bowl, will Vince's contract have to be renegotiated for him to come back his senior season?

You sound like a jealous idiot. Of course UT must be paying their players. Surely they couldn't land all those recruits on their own.
Something tells me you have two teams, SMU and A&M. Only that can explain your [deleted] envy.

I do wish we had been more discreet about running our pro team, and also that we had the governor in power in the SWC split instead of Baylor.

Wrong, Noonan. SMU is my only college team.

Big schools don't cheat, do they, Danny? They don't have to, right? (You sound like the guys at the Dallas Morning News.)
But, what about Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio State, and Colorado........?
The big boys still cheat.
But, by all means, let's keep an eye on those cheatin' little schools. And in the mean time, let's lock them out of the BCS, and maybe they'll just die off.
SMU had to forfeit about 4 victories in '97 or '98 for using an ineligible player. Ohio State won the national championship with Maurice Clarett. Heard any talk of the Buckeyes giving any of those wins back? Me, neither.
UT, and the rest of the Big IX, should be scrutinized closely. But, they are not. It's been that way for some time now. In recent years, especially, the media have been as excited about the 'Horns successes as any fan.
No, I don't think you'd call what I feel "jealousy". It's something else.

We spent our money the wrong way back in the great 80's. We should have bought the referees and bribed the NCAA. aTm showed us how to beat the rap - stonewall and don't self-report just like the Aggies had to do about Jackie Sherrell. As I have written several times before, players should be paid but meet regular academic standards as students to distinguish them from pro players. Juzt like amateurism has died in the Olympics, the NCAA should drop the fiction of student/athletes being non-pros.

Then provide some sort of evidence that UT is cheating. Anything, other than the fact they're #2 in the nation so they must be? Didn't think so.
And no, I don't think UT has to cheat to be a top ten program. They're the flagship university in the state (along with CA and FL) that has more high school football talent than anywhere else.

Of course the desperate, bitter mustang fans who feel wronged by the death penalty are not going the let a little thing like the facts get in the way of a good whine.

We have not played Texas since 1995 and are not going to play them soon. I will never understand why people want to hate them. Of all the schools, they have the least offensive and obtrusive fans. It is easy for me to say, both my parents went there.
