Stallion: please look at my previous post. I said what you've preached to us - and I've listened - for quite some time.
SMU will get the attention it deserves when it starts to win...consistently.
And I agree with what you've said for quite some time, too...the 'model' needs to be changed as well.
Mr. Pony is no relation to me.

mr. pony, judging from your recent posts, you might be the biggest crybaby in the history of this board. And that says a lot.
Quit being such a little b*tch!
They're talking about TCU's bowl game because we're not in one. get over it.

Why, Danny!
Why so angry?
I bring up valid points, I think.
And you two "Legends" .....
Is that all you got? Pretty weak. No wonder we can't it going on the Hilltop.

Danny,
In case you missed the point, they were talking about a bowl game almost TWO WEEKS IN THE FUTURE at the expense of talking about a newsworthy SMU basketball game of the day before. What is hard to understand about that? And what is "b*tchy" about bringing it up?

So what if its two weeks in the future. They'll start covering the super bowl two weeks in advance too. They cover the Cowboys in training camp 3 or 4 weeks in advance of their first game. TCU is preparing for their bowl game, why not cover it?
And to tell you the truth, a game against Savanna State probably didn't deserve that much coverage.
Its [deleted] because you keep harping on it and complaining about it. I don't know how many times it needs to be explained that Channel 8 is not SMU's personal news station. Do something newsworthy, like going 10-1 and going to a bowl, and they'll cover it.
Your little crybaby posts about the UT players are also very [deleted].
Everything about your posts make you seem like you have an enormous case of [deleted] envy when it comes to every other school. Quit being so petty and jealous.

Stallion....
How are you helping SMU compete? Trust me....SMU does compete and to say otherwise is foolish. Just ask the 120 football players who came within an eyelash of winning CUSA in football this year. SMU is gettign better in every sport and competing better and better each season.
NOW...DO US ALL A FAVOR AND HELP US COMPETE.
PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS...PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL 214-768-4000 AND JOIN THE "MUSTANG CLUB".

yeah I'll get right on that. SMU knows what it needs to do to compete and yet has chosen not to. Not going to flush my money down the toilet on the faint hope that SMU might beat NTSU, Arkansas St, Sam Houston State Monument, Rice-a-roni, the Tulane Green Wave Disaster Zone and Cougar High thereby going to its first Bowl to compete against Middle Tennessee State in the 2006 New Orleans Bowl. Unless a miracle happens the 2006 class along with the weak 2004-2005 class will send us spiralling down again. Why don't you give everybody an update on the status of changes to the curriculm, the number of JUCOs who Bennett wanted who were not admitted to SMU and explain why SMU is the just about the only team in CUSA who apparently can't get Division 1A transfers into school.

You forgot to add..."you heard it here first." Write that down in your little diary so you can remind us late next year that you told us so.

Excuse me? We were one game away from a shot at the CUSA title game, we beat two ranked teams, played tough and hung in there for all but two games, won a nail biter against UAB, had a three game win streak, and defeated our biggest rival to keep the iron skillet for two years, and you have the gaul to say we don't care to compete?
What a steaming pile of crap!
Talk about how the 'system is broken', 'we don't recruit enough' blah blah blah alll you want. Duh we get it, we've had that established for a long time. But give credit where credit is due. YES, SMU has competed in sports sometimes lacking talent & fan support, and usually lacking administration support, and due to these have fallen short of expectations. Now at least good things are happening, but it is you who chooses not to see it.
We don't need more fans like you. Especially when they say something idiotic like "SMU doesn't care to compete." I might have agreed with you midseason, but I went to the last three games and saw that SMU wanted to compete. Judging from your posts, all you did is sit in your armchair.

I am not Stallion's spokesman nor do I care to be. I am sure he will answer in his own charming way, but you should know he is not speaking to the competitive nature of the players but rather the unwillingness of the administration to allow SMU to compete on an even field with our competition. Understand the problem and you will understand the rant. When we can not admit players into our school that our conference mates and cross town rivals do, how can we be expected to compete with them?

See? The problem ain't that hard to understand. That is, of course, unless you are one in the position to fix it, apparently....

Ok I misunderstood. But considering the often pessimistic nature of Stallion's posts, I jumped the gun a little early.
But I see no reason why the 2006 season has to be written off before a snap is taken. We have an easier schedule with more winnable games and I think many would be happy if SMU got invited to the New Orleans Bowl contrary to what some say here.
And Stallion's post I commeted on wasn't even an attempt to be an armchair administrator (which I see a lot on this board), but just to complain complain complain, man it gets old. 17 years old.
Sorry about the threadjack, I'll end that now.
