BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Hell, I'd be happy to see the Mustangs beat the crap outta the Froggies again in exchange for a game against Sam Houston State.
oh - 65 - you're a jewel!

If the schedule was going to be rearrange to add TCU, it stands to reason we have to make that deal with one of the teams we play on the road...TTech or UNT? I can't see UNT making the deal as they'd have a tough time attracting an opponent who will draw as well as SMU in Denton. Tech could invite a I-AA team to replace SMU and make money on the deal. That's probably the only chance this happens and the question then becomes are those dates available for all concerned?
That's why these things are done years in advance.
Old fart questioning my manhood aside, I would not change anything - other then trade Tech for TCU - therby trading one low rent school west of us for a different but easier low rent school west of us.
Lets get some mo with some w's and a baby bowl and get this program officially pulled out of the ditch before we rip the rear view mirror off and put the pedal down (nice auto analogy, huh?).
...and therein lies the problem: Copeland ain't working. He's a slug. It's time for him to go.
Hey JTStang....most of these posters who complain about us "back in the day" posters, or [deleted] about those of us who have an opinion, are probably primarily 20 somethings who still think Ronega Hill is the best back ever and Putt Choate couldn't hold Jason Simonton's jock strap......who's Mike Ford again??? Long Live Emanuel Tolbert.
Remember when TCU, Virginia Tech and Oregon State were cupcakes on our schedule. Now I would love to be to a point where they were our cupcakes, not the other way around. I would trade TT on the road for TCU on the road. Otherwise, I'd leave our schedule alone. I have no real interest in Sam Houston State Teachers College and Farm Implement Academy other than beating them. I would love to give TCU another 12-1 season with us being the 1. I guess it depends a lot on when the hole appears in the schedules.
Most of us only [deleted] about you "'back in the day' posters" when some moron tries to suggest we don't have the right to an opinion.
Well, I'm not a twenty something anymore, but since my time on the Hilltop was in the mid-80s it I have a hard time remembering any of the players during a couple of years...oops, that's right we didn't HAVE any players for a couple of years. But your point is well taken, those mid to late 70's teams with Art Whittington, Champ Dickerson, Ford, Tolbert, Choate, et al. were fun to watch even for a wide-eyed school kid. You could really see the program starting to turn with games like the tie at Ohio State.
Monument? I thought they were the Bobkats........
Bearkats
TCU and SMU have a deal from 2007 to 2010. I highly doubt when both schools have another deal already set in stone, that they would both go out of their way, well atleast from the SMU side after already having all 4 non-conference slates filled, to get each other on the schedule.
