That was that Hurricane weekend, when barely anybody was there at Kyle Field.

If he repeats his performance as at the SMU-SHSU women's basketball game in November, he won't be cheering for SMU. At all.

No problem with cheering for your alma mater. But it does make you look a little silly. That's the problem with pledging your allegiance to two teams - at some point, they just might play each other.

Texas State beat SHSU 26-23 (ot) in 2005

Postby Sam I Am » Tue Feb 14, 2006 11:42 pm

If you like to play the comparison game, in 2005 SHSU lost to Texas State in overtime by 26-23. Texas State played A&M closer than SMU, and was a strong contender in the NCAA divisional playoffs. SHSU was about even with Texas State in the game they played each other. By comparison you might project that SHSU would have played A&M closer than SMU. Thus, the 2006 SMU game against SHSU could be a lot closer than the ponies will like. SMU has not had a high scoring offesne under Bennett. I would never take 20 points on game like this.

Well, we beat TCU, and they beat Oklahoma, who beat TAMU, who beat Texas State, who beat SHSU so we should have no problems.

I hate it when people do this.

So technically, since we beat TCU by 11 we're the Houston Bowl Champions and MVC Champions?

And I agree. Using this concept means absolutely nothing. SMU is looking to have its best season in over 20 years. SHSU finished 3-7 in Division I-AA and 2-4 in their conference. I don't know anything about their team or what they have returning but I do know that this upcoming year is SUPPOSED to be the best year SMU has had post Death Penalty which is why I atleast said we would by 20 but it could change.
Remember we got waxed by the Aggies and SHSU played them a much better game a few weeks later.
WRONG after we played the aggs A&M played TEXAS STATE not Sam Houston. TEXAS STATE went on to the Div.1AA Champion game but lost. Sam Houston I believe had a losing record last year including a BLOW OUT loss to TEXAS TECH. FINAL: SMU 52 Sam Houston 17

And lost in overtime after the STUPID coach decided not to even try for the touchdown with 44 seconds left and ESPN would not stop showing the crowd's reaction and the booing for atleast the following week.

When i joined this board i never imagined it would be so cut-throat...haha, i mean, sure the guy's post was really late, but man, we're this way to "one of our own" - harsh! Funny...but harsh.

I just hope we beat UNT...if we do, I think we'll man-handle SHSU b/c we'll be so excited to be at home for the first time in 2006, w/ all the hype this upcoming season is already generating. SMU by 17.

I predict that if SMU does not beat SHSU by 50 points, within 5 minutes of the final gun, and possibly even before the end of the game, there will be a thread on this board demanding that Bennett be fired.

There will also be speculation on the new coach with Charlie Waters name listed as the favorite candidate.

Didn't SHSU go deep into the NCAA playoffs, maybe to the championship game, just a few years ago?
