Basketball is a contact sport. Just like Ballroom dancing. Football is a HITTING sport. It is one thing to push people around a basketball court like a Sumo wrestler. It is another to have someone as big or bigger deliver a hard blow that knocks one into last week. There are examples of BBall players making the jump to football. There are far more that have taken that first hit and walked off the field. One hopes that as big and athletic as Ritter is that he can make a huge positive impact on the field. It will be interesting. He is trying for Tight end? Isn’t that a spot we are not so worried about? Don't we already have talent, size and experience at tight end? Seems we could use an unskilled but talented basketball player elsewhere on the field. I do hope he is a great talent and matures faster than most kids and develops skills that normal take 2 years to develop in less than 6 months. I do hope he lives up to all the anticipation of a few notable and remarkable examples. I do hope that he is an impact player because we can always use one more. I just hope he has the mental and physical toughness to walk onto a football field in excruciating pain day in a day out and perform as if he was pain free. I do hope that he can develop a mindset of attacking then opponent with controlled violence. And I hope he doesn’t ge4t broken in two before he learns how to protect himself. I agree with others on this tread that football and basketball are two different sports that require different skills and different abilities.

Talked to a buddy last night who said he's hearing Ritter will be tried on the offensive line, maybe at offensive tackle.

I like the idea of giving him a look at DE as well. A big tall guy who can run...and react?

looks like #32 Paul Hiemenz appeared to be at the third starting linebacker at practice today. Never heard of him before, but I guess he redshirted last year and was all state player in Kansas in high school. I didnt notice Damon Hurst who I would like to see, but I was just passing by. Big #7 had a blue qb jersey on so I guess he is still a qb and not a "Uback" at the moment.

Oscar Roan transferred from the UCLA basketball team to SMU to play football and ended up an All-American. Clayton Korver didn't play football at SMU but was drafted by the Oakland Raiders. For you younger guys, Korver was the enforcer on SMU's basketball team in the early 70's when SWC basketball was pretty similar to SWC football.

FYI...the roster in the Spring Prospectus has him listed as a QB.

Did Clayton "The Animal" Korver ever play more than 8 minutes in a game before fouling out? It was truly great to see him clear the lane for our guards.
Just send 'da money.
