I think you just earned Gladchuk my vote.

You know, somehow I expect that wouldn't be too high on his priority list!

All four of these AD candidates seem to really have something to offer.

Also, the BC Eagles have WON six straight bowl games.

Dickson had the opportunity to turn down the job to the press yesterday and didn't. The guy that said he turned it down referred to his "source." If Dickson is staying at Tulane, he has fundraising to do. If Dickson were going to turn it down, he would do it quickly and publically. It is in any AD's best interest to do it that way.

Obviously, based on what I have already said, I wouldn't lose sleep if he did turn it down.

All that being said, I would expect at least one candidate to bail out quickly.

Great memory, '65. The Navy game still 'burns' me. We were outcoached and set our own grass on fire.

I think the BC programs got into trouble when Gladchuck was there. I'll research it a little, but you don't normally see guys go from BC to U of H.

Gladchuk left BC for Houston during the betting scandal in 1997. While none were implicated the AD (Gladchuk), football coach (Dan Henning) and basketball coach (Jim O'Brien) all left the school.

Gladchuk was wildly successfull as AD at BC. I am actually a big fan of his and would love it if he was our new AD. Of all the names mentioned, his is the one that has me most excited.

To be fair I must report that has job of coach hirings at UofH was rather unsuccesfull. He brought in Clyde Drexler to coach basketball. It was a miserable failure. In his defense there was tons of pressure put on him by the wealthy UH alums, the board, and other forces. He also brought in head football coach Dana Dimmel. This too was a fat failure. Not sure if he hired Ray Mccallum, Drexler's replacement before Penders was hired 2 seasons ago.

Apparently these poor coaching choices did not affect people's opinion on Gladchuk bc he then went on to Navy, a rather prestigious AD post. I like that he has been instrumental in a very succesfull program such as BC. I also like that he has exposure to being in a huge sports market such as Houston, at a program in bad shape and with poor marketing efforts. His experience in Houston could very well help him here in Dallas being that the two situations are similar in city size and lack of fan support, although other aspects between the schools are obviously very different.

Gladchuk gets my vote! Who do you guys like?

I talked about Gladchuk's Houston tenure on the blog. His hires were not successful there. He did hire Mccallum, who at least mustered an NIT bid. To his credit the Drexler hire was a swing for the fences. It could have paid off big, but it didn't. They did sell out every game Drexler's first year. But that isn't the kind of mistake he (or anyone else) is likely to make again. Dimmel didn't work out, that is for sure, especially considering he fired Kim Helton after winning seven games in 1997. Still, he did other things at UofH, such as renovating the football and basketball venues-he got UofH out of the Astrodome.

But his hires at BC are astounding to me and easily outweigh what he failed to accomplish at Houston.

But isn't our situation more comparable to Houston's than BC's. We aren't a nationally recognized program anymore, we have a declining apathetic alumni and fan base, and we don't play in a BCS conference. To me that describes Houston, not BC or even Navy minus the BCS conference.
