As memory serves, every time Copeland was mentioned for an opening at another school, only to "withdraw his name from consideration," the anti-Cope faction said he withdrew when he realized they were going to hire someone else. Maybe that's what happened here -- Dickson realized we are going to hire someone else and "removed his name from consideration." I don't know that to be true, of course .... just food for thought.

I think you are right. Copeland's withdrawals always came a day or two before the hire.

I would prefer Laramie to Lubbock anyday of the week. If you are from the country, it is pretty out there and I'm sure their A.D. has no pressure.

Pretty in Laramie? Wow -- there's a sentence I never thought I'd hear/read. The western part of the state, in the Rockies, is gorgeous. Laramie is basically Lubbock North.

Good point to remember, high profile candidates are usually (ALLOWED) to "withdraw" their names, when they are not going to get the job. I was told early this morning, that this was going to be the case, with these two candidates.

As Corso said, Wyoming's great scenery is in its western side.

I seriously doubt that within highly-competitive D-1A where budget deficits are common, supporters want winners, APR is a factor, etc. there is an AD position with no (or minimal) pressure.

Expectations are high for MWC athletic departments and that means pressure.

What kind of job has the UNT AD Rick Villareal done? Seems like he's done OK...they've had some football success, they're starting up a baseball program and he's gotten some facilities built....just a thought.

Like Corso, I have been there. I would guess they like and support their teams, but it ain't Texas. People there just seem to have different interests. That is all I was saying. After they have had success, they are also more prone to give the athletic department slack when they have a bad year.
