They are in total meltdown over there. It's the freaking AD, not the starting QB or head coach. They'll find someone else with strong business sense to work for them. I like how the one guy on their board is flipping out about us, saying stuff like "How DARE they take a conference mate's AD, you just don't do that!!!" like we stole their girlfriend or something. Would they prefer he went to FSU and pissed on them from a BCS platform?
I believe the same guy was making fun of the name "ponyfans.com", as if their pegasus/knight combo wasn't laughable.

Other than for producing Daunte Culpepper, UCF has been on the sports map for what, a year? And they're making fun of the name of an independent fans website?
Score one for the value of a UCF education!

This was a great hire! UCF fans should be a little ticked because Orisini is the reason they got George O'Leary with his false resume past the schools governing board.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the local sports radio commentary, but if anyone is interested, the UCF flagship station is 740 AM. The link to the 740 website is http://www.740theteam.com/main.html (they have streaming audio). Marc Daniels, the voice of UCF athletics, doesn't come on until mid afternoon, but I bet he'll be all over this story. Should at least be some good pub for SMU in Central Florida.

I think this is a great hire. The guy has a background with the Cowboys meaning he has some experience with Dallas, and he has a strong background from Georgia Tech which has had some great programs in football and basketball. So, he has seen success close up and personal and can probably read whether Bennett and Tubbs are the real deal or pretenders. He also can sell a program. He had a hand in getting Orlando to adopt UCF when UF, FSU, and UM are the dominant players in that state. I'm sorry we had to rob a conference mate to get him, but I think this is a great hire.

I can't believe I feel as excited about an athletic director as I do this morning. This feels like Christmas morning when I was 6. Is it wrong to ask an athletic director for an austograph?

Given the general nature of the responses here, the SMU Mustang Club will be expecting those checks that were promised "when we get a new AD." We'll probably need to to pay the salary we must have offered to snag him away.

It seems like a great hire! Let's all get behind him...although based on his biography, I think I already feel him breathing down our backs! This is what we need, energy, contacts, energy, experience, energy....
