As for us "getting the living [deleted] beat out of us" by BCS teams,I have personally seen us play and BEAT Arkansas THREE TIMES in the 1990's AND in case you were not at FORD for the opening game in 2000 with KANSAS I think we pretty well beat the ...... out of them.

What about these losses: NC St 0-41 , Baylor 7-48 ,7-35, 10-58 to Tech, OSU 6-52 & 7-59, 0-42 against Wisconsin, Boise 3-45, losses to TCU7-62 &0-44

My point was that for the most part, we have gotten our [deleted] handed to us by BCS teams (threw in Boise St and TCU as they were about as close to a BCS team as a mid-major could be).

We also lost by 7 to bowl bound UNC. We narrowly lost to NC State at Ford. No argument that we have for the most part stunk for the past 18 years, and I would not want to play UT for that reason. I think we ought to try and play the Stanfords, Northwesterns, Baylors, Notre Dames, Dukes, Wake Forests, Vanderbilts, Kansas, or Indianas of the BCS world for now. If we start beating them regularly, then play UT, Miami, FSU, VT or LSU.

My point exactly...nothing wrong with playing the "lower-level" teams from the BCS conferences instead of the perennial top 10/25 teams until we can compete on a regular basis. If we could start getting some wins, we could draw our own crowds instead of using the "rent-a-fans" from TX, A$M, or Arkansas, etc. Ole Miss would also be a good program to start a series with.

Totally agree. I wouldn't mind playing Duke at all in a couple of seasons

I disagree. I think we're getting to a point where we have a good mix in non-conference games with Tech and then NTSU followed up by A$M and TCU along with some patsies. From a competition standpoint, playing Dook and Wake would be a good idea, but the economics make no sense. If we played either of those teams at Ford, the draw would be less than the East Carolina game. We need to play one or two BCS teams a season, but we need those teams to be from schools who will fill Ford - ie, Tech, OSU, A$M. Baylor and TCU get us to about 25K in fans. Missouri, KU, or K. State would likely be on this level and I wouldn't be opposed to playing them, but playing small privates from BCS conferences with small local almuni bases is a bad idea because they bring little to the table. In my opinion, beating Wake or Dook or Vandy at Ford is a push with beating ECU, UAB, or Marshall.

you don't want to get smeared by texas but you do want to get smeared by notre dame.. that is obsurd.. we need the texas recruits we don't need national recruits..

ok maybe oksu wouldn't kill us but they did last time..

TAMU killed us.. OU would kill us.. LSU kill us... pick your poison.. name another big name w/ SWC ties that would not kill us.. and we do play inconf or don't play

who the hell in dallas will pay to see N'Western, Stanford, Duke, Wake Forrest, vanderbilt and Indiana.. ok maybe cuban.. it would be a complete waste of money to travel there.. if we went to N'western would not be on tv, nor would it sell 20K tickets, Stanford this year couldn't even sell out when they played usc and they gave them a game for three full quarters, again waste of money if we went there

We need to rekindle the SWC period..

KU yes, Notre Dame yes, but they would not come to Dallas, no way...

who taught you to play sports growing up.. as i recall if you wanted to get better you played people who are better than you... ever heard of micheal jordan..

he always talks of how he would play against his bigger and stronger and better 4 yr older brother day after day after day growing up..

i guess that didn't help him very much, even if he is the greatest at what he does.. if the greatest ever thinks that is the thing to do .. i can't see arguing that
