oops, yeah, I knew FSU kept theirs...thanks for catching that! I suppose ASU's mascot doesn't matter, just as long as we beat them!

Arkansas State is still the Indians. That's a must win game. UNT should also be treated as a must win, but I have a feeling the UNT game will be a lot tougher.

Im suprised no one mentioned how we ewnated JaMario THomas only we couldnt get him in school because his test scores and grades were so low, but I think it is related to a learning disability, not plain ignorance like some.

I bet they could remain the savages if they changed their charecature to a European savage sacking Rome or something. I should sue Notre Dame because their depiction of the Irish offends me.

N.Texas won the Sun Belt and got an exemption from the NCAA in 2001 when they went 5-6 as they beat Middle Tenn 24-21. Both had ident. records of 5-1 in the Conf. Middle Tenn was 8-3 that year.

Whoops. I lost a few years there. Brain cell loss from the 70's I guess.

Jamario suffers from dyslexia, and chose N. Texas over some other D1 progams because the school has a highly regarded and very successful program to assist students with this learning disability.

And for the record, despite the dyslexia, Jamario was a FULL QAULIFIER. Under NCAA standards he would have been eligible to play at any division 1 school. It's not like N. Texas is exempt from the NCAA eligiblity rules.

Now could he get into SMU? I don't know. It's no secret the number of athletes that SMU has lost because the school
s stringent admission requirements. I even heard Eric Dickerson rant against his alma mater regarding this.

Im not saying he was a nonqualifier. Im more pointing out we couldnt get him in, even with a learning disability.

To be truthful I don't know if Thomas is a DIA running back. Nor Cobbs, when they both played S.Miss both had minus rushing yards Cobbs had -3 and Thomas had -7. So it may have been a blessing that you didn't get him.

Jemario could have gone anywhere in the country if his learning disability had not been an issue. He will be the highest rated player on either team at least coming out of high school. He was the No 38 rated player in Texas. You don't reel off 1800 yards as a freshman without some talent.

You do when you are playing the likes of:

Arkansas St.
Florida Atlantic
Florida Intl.
LA Lafayette
LA Monroe
Middle Tenn. St.
Troy

Have you ever seen their DEF. The top 8-10 IAA are better. Thomas couldn't crack our 3 deep at RB and wuld have to switch to FB if he wanted to see the field. And at that point he would be only 2nd string.

Do you not think that their O-Line or lack there of played a big role in that? Or maybe that their passing game was not good enough to compete so S.Miss could zero in on the run?

Frankly, I cannot 100% tell you how good Thomas is. But I can tell you I would certainly love for him to be on our roster and a lot of other teams would feel the same way.

Cobbs who was the nations leading runner wasn't even drafted. It took a lil over 2 weeks for him to get a call to try out. This isn't even a FA deal. Do you not think that this is due somewhat to who the Mean Green Played.

As of last year alot of the Sun Belt teams as bad as it is. Are catching up with N. Texas in terms of playing in conf. games.
