Nice half page article on UT's QB McCoy this morning.

Did anyone see this note printed in the paper, and on-line on the new Godzillatron video screen debuting at Memorial against UNT?

Video screen dubbed 'Godzillatron'

Fans will immediately notice something new at Royal-Memorial Stadium this season: A 7,370-foot, high-definition Daktronics LED video screen.
It has been nicknamed "Godzillatron" because when it is unveiled at the North Texas game Sept. 2, it will be the largest full-screen video board in the world. A video board being constructed in Asia is expected to be three feet larger than UT's. But for now, the Longhorns have the record.

A mile, and a half high? They'll be able to watch that thing in Waco.
   I don't think so.

But by golly...the DMN made damn sure they had a story about UT's scrimmage 200 miles away from Dallas, didn't they? Posted on the DMN web site at 8:02 p.m. on Saturday.

don't you have ANYTHING else to do? give it a rest pops.

I, too, have been mesmerized by the thrilling UT coverage of late in the DMN, specifically the battle going on for the qb job.

Why, today, they had a full half-page about how this Colt guy isn't intimidated at all - not even a little bit.

Riveting.

The hometown program's scrimmage warranted a color photo with a story in today's DMN - ESPECIALLY since they failed to publicize the event AT ALL.

It was a totally newsworthy and appropriate event for Dallas' only newspaper to cover. Just like the kickoff luncheon.

It's amazing to me that some don't understand the value of a large color shot of a DeMyron Martin or a Justin Rogers in the DMN. It would translate into ticket sales and recruits.

SMU's logoed helmet and uniform are rarely seen in color in its own hometown paper. In black-and-white either, for that matter!

Hear that, Mr. Orsini??

Hey pal! Let's have some respect for Colt McCoy! He is not just a future football hero at THE UNIVERSITY of TEXAS, Colt is a mild mannered super hero! You have to give the UT media machine bad marks for only letting this story slip out to the DMN twice this summer. How fitting that on Memorial Day, young Colt swam 300 yards through shark infested waters, fought ruthless pirates, ran through thick jungles, climbed steep mountains (fighting billygoats) captured illegals at the border, foiled a terrorist plot, only to perform open heart surgery with a paper clip on a thankful neighbor! Colt is a modern day Audie Murphy!

Would rather ready about that than a half page story about how our QB is having warts removed from his feet.

How about a color half-page of DeMyron blowing through a hole made by 315-lb Kenard Burley last night?

Oh, and believe this: if mighty Colt in Austin had had a wart removed, the DMN would have had a spread about warts and how they can really mess a player up, complete with color diagrams and the history of warts.

The DMN did do something similar when Mack Brown had heart surgery.

A new student at church today said that she heard that SMU was going to be pretty good this year, and she's glad because her sister goes to Georgia and brags about their team a lot. She was pleased with last night's attendance.

Good momentum. SMU doesn't have Alabama's defense but this is Graham Harrell's first game, and I think the Pony's defense will CREATE some opportunities. And the SMU RB tandem should keep the clock going.

It sounds like the guys didn't do too badly considering they were playing in full pads in 100+ temps. I know it's Texas and it's August, but it hasn't been this hot for these players probably since they've been here. The players at UTEP have had it good this summer with cooler temps and rain.

I think the cotton bowl was GH's first game. He's got some experience with a few TD's and no INT's. He won't feel too out of place, but our D-Line should bring the pain early and rattle his flimsy cage!

GH's first game was vs Florida International in the first game of the 2005 season. He played in 5 more after that one.

Did you every think that the lack of coverage has to do with Phil Bennett's relationship with Calvin Watkins? Seems a while back Phil was screaming at Clavin for someting at a practice.

If Cliff Clavin (from Cheers) was at a Mustangs practice, I'd yell at him, too!
