Without Question.. the 2005 Rose Bowl.. Texas beats Michigan!

My Dad is a UT Alum.. and I've also always loved the Longhorns. Pull for SMU with my Heart.. and Texas with my brain.

Nothing better than hearing the "Eyes of Texas" after that game.. gave me chills! To be in California and also realize that the last Texas team to play there was SMU.. pretty cool.

Nothing like the Rose Bowl. If you EVER have a chance to get out there for a game.. highly highly encourage it. That place has incredible history and just a feel to it like no place I've ever seen a sporting event.

BTW.. it was a great game too!
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

SMU over UCONN 1989 and TX over MICH 2005 Rose Bowl. no way i could choose one over the other... Both meant a lot to each program and I went absolutely nuts at both.... once as a 5th grader and once 5 years out of college!

1976 Rose Bowl UCLA 23 #1 Ohio State 10
I was 8 years old and it was only the second college game I had been to. UCLA beat #1 Ohio State (with 2 time Heisman winner Archie Griffin). [deleted] Vermeil was the UCLA head coach that season. My mom and grandparents took me to Rose Bowl for the next 8 years. Nothing like it.

Ricky's Heisman-winning game. That was my birthday. And a good one it was.

Hey horns and stangs - your initials aren't JY are they?

Because fifth grade would put you at my age (though I was in sixth grade that year - I repeated a grade after a year in Europe, that year in fact, we left for Europe the week following that game) - I know for a fact that JY was out in Cali during this past year's Rose Bowl but didn't actually go to the game. I wouldn't put it passed him to have been at the UT-Michigan game.

EDIT:

nm

Just looked at your old posts. Not JY - (a) I would have known if JY had moved back to Dallas and (b) JY's been to plenty of games at Ford.

I know I already submitted a favorite, but I must add that the experience at Notre Dame Stadium is unparalleled for atmosphere. I saw them beat Tennessee last year on an overcast, dreary day...and it was unlike anything else. One is hardpressed not to well up inside walking up the tunnel into the stands and seeing the masses before you.

I really enjoyed the 1978 Cotton Bowl. Loved watching Joe Montana and the Irish destroy Earl Campbell and the #1 ranked Texas Longhorns. Though I had tickets to the next years game as well, the great ice storm kept us trapped at the house that day but the 35-34 victory was amazing. I still watch that game over and over on ESPN Classic.

how about '05 smu win over tcu... 21-10 .. shows my age.. actually i would have to say the '96 ark vs. smu game when ramon flanigan hurt his hip on the first play and was out for the season.. I know we won but i am hazy on how we won, i believe it was on a last minute goaline td at the cotton bowl in the North Endzone.. cannot tell you the score hopefully someone can remember...

Last year's Rose Bowl followed by the 2005 Rose Bowl (both UT victories) after having sat through their three worst losses ever.

Unfortunately for me, none of the SMU games have compared YET.

SMU 28 Oklahoma 27
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

1998 Wyoming 3 Air Force 10

We drove 450 miles to Laramie to watch #25 Wyoming (8-1) play Air Force (8-1) to decide the WAC championship. It seemed that Air Force was always one step ahead with it's efficent option attack and stingy defense, but Wyoming lived and died by the big play so we thought that the next play would be be the one that broke it open so everyone was on the edge of their seats all game.

Unfortunately, Air Force would win their next 3 games and finish 12-1 while Wyoming would be blanked 35-0 against Tulsa and would not only fail to win the division, but also miss a bowl game as well with an 8-3 record.

I think that's most exciting thing I've read on PonyFans in a long while. Covok48, you have explained why us much maligned "sunshiners" love our Mustangs so much. It almost brings a very [deleted] Vermeil like tear to my eye.
