BOMAR to Sam Houston

Once again the NCAA has made a huge mistake. It takes two to tango and Bomar knew exactly what he was doing. Is forcing him to D1AA enough punishment for accepting $18K in payola?

Bomar committed a cardinal sin by accepting payments from a booster, and his school will end up paying the price. He will continue his college football career and will still be in the NFL scouts eyes. The minimum punishment should be a ban from ever playing D1 football after sitting out one year.

The NCAA just will not send the message to the athletes that if you break the rules, you will pay the price.
Just send 'da money.

This case is just high profile enough that the NCAA may actually take a stand and issue some kind of punishment for the player. It would keep them from having to directly punish Oklahoma which you know they do not want to do while at the same time for once punishing the athletes that committed the "crime". Do not be surprised if they do not require a one year banning or something similar. Then again do not be surprised if they say "all is right with the world, play on".

Of course, then the NCAA will punish Sam Houston for taking him under their wing.

According to the story on ESPN.com, he may not be eligible to play until the middle of the season because of the pending paperwork. So given that information, the chances of him facing us on Sept. 16 are remote.

He is a great talent, but I do not think he is a good leader. He has a lot of qualities like Todd Marinovich, a talented QB who thought his stuff didn't stink and wound up blowing up in his face.

It's one thing to have talent. It's another to have talent and be a good teammate. Bomar falls into the latter.

I saw him play three times at Grand Prairie -- Actions speak louder than words. GP never got to the playoffs under him.

Are you sure that's what you meant to say?

The point I'm trying to make is that he's a gifted player, but he doesn't have the means to inspire his teammates to rally around him due to his selfishness. Those types of players usually fall apart.

If it read funny, my bad. I hope that clears it up.

Hook'em Horns!! You and can talk at some point about my experiences at the Texas-OU games. Been a UT fan since I was growing up out West and had USC and UCLA shoved down my throat.

Can you imagine if Bomar is allowed to play for Sam Houston and has to go to Austin and play UT at home. Man, that could get real ugly.......

I know, it frustrates my friends.

To make this "easy" to understand:

1. Graduated from SMU in 1991.
2. Born in Texas but grew up out West. Have been a UT fan since I was kid because hey, I'm from Texas. I wanted to go to UT but it was too big. But I am NOT a UCLA/USC fan. I was just pointing out that UT didn't get much coverage since those schools dominated the headlines.
3. My favorite conference is the Big 10 because my dad went to Minnesota and I have other relatives that went to Wisconsin.

In the order of loyalty
1. SMU
2. Minnesota (loyalty to dad always helps)
3. Texas

I hope this helps. Thanks for your patience.

Although I'd rearrange the order a little bit, I do like all of those schools. Minnesota has been quietly building a pretty good program over the last few years.

It's a lot better than when Wacker was there. They have beaten every team in the Big 10 under Mason, but keep losing games in bizarre fashion.
For instance, last year's game against Wisconsin when the punter drops the snap and Wisconsin covers the ball in the end zone to win.

Maddening. I think this is going to be rough year for the Gophers. They go to Cal. Running game has too many questions and the defense remains suspect.
