in the end, we're still SMU, and they're still UNT - as crappy as our team played tonight, I walked away grateful for that.

I don't know why UNT would be that excited - i thought both teams played like absolute crap. I think my high school team could mop up the floor w/ UNT or SMU.

On the first part, a prime example of misplaced arrogance which will eventually hurt SMU deeply, as it is hurting many of you now.

On the other point. Be that as it may, one team played 18 points less crappy than the other.

I will say I did feel a moment of pity for UNT as we left the stadium...I heard all the rumors about SMU keeping them out of C-USA, and then I remembered how SMU alums in Dallas helped boo down the idea of "UNT Law." But, SMU is just trying to protect is position, I'm sure. Still, no wonder so many UNT people were excited about this game.

Indeed, many at UNT are tired of the whole "SMU kept us out" CUSA argument. UTEP was undoubtedly the right choice, and we need to keep building our facilities (new Baseball & football stadiums soon) before we come in.

UNT Law's a done deal for the next session. Mainly it was blocked by time and a disagreement over wether to have it affiliated with NT or NTD. Totally understand the Methodists protecting their position, though ( SMU and Wesleyan both).

There's an (undeserved and old) feeling of inferiority at NT, mainly because people remember it as a backup school in Denton and not the University System it is now. Mostly it's us doing it to ourselves.

Again, best of luck. Will be rooting for y'all for the rest of the year, and will be wearing red (I have plenty of friends at SMU) for Sam Houston.

You don't want to play UNT because SMU is stuck in the past. SMU is no longer in a major conference, cannot field a competitive team against UNT, will not see a major bowl game, will never regain the status it once had and lost due to its bountiful arrogance (which for no reason still exists), is no longer a research university (now lower on that classification that UTA and UTD), is no longer the best university in town, has no graduate programs except for an MBA and a JD that will only get you hired in Dallas, will never have another Doak, and will continue to fall behind better universities with a real research program, and will eventually be consigned to the selfsame dustbin in which old, outdated and needlessly arrogant schools who pay off US News now reside.

It's been real. Now go learn how to spell fire, you, and answer; go learn how to play football, and go learn how to dust, because a lot of NT grads have some housecleaning to do after tonight's parties.

Yeah, cause it's real easy to kick people when they're down... I thank God everyday I had the collegiate experience I had at SMU. The absolute best four years ever. I love that school as if it were a family member, so naturally your comments are difficult to swallow. No offense, really, but screw you buddy.
Thanks and see you next year. Good luck in the Suck Belt.
GO MUSTANGS!

FIGHT ON!

I thought UNT touted this game as a 'sell out'? From my vantage point, the home side looked just like Ford Stadium does during SMU's home games...pretty barren. Probably the same geriatric set and folks who have nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon except in UNT clothing.

I will say that the UNT study body turned out in better numbers than SMU's student body does during home games. The visiting side was pretty full. But hardly anyone was sitting in the end zones. You could have fired a gun and not hit anyone in those sections. So again, why all the talk about it being a 'sell out'?

The UNT fans I interacted with were gracious and sportsmanlike. Props to them.

Since when is NTSU a top research university?

Yeah, thats it, SMU pays off US news and world report?

I live in Seattle and people have heard of SMU and there are alumni here. Anyone every heard of North Texas State in this part of the country?

Man, your jealously and inferiority complex is showing thru.

I always kind of liked NTSU because I thought the people werent arrogant jerks like those at arlington who wear their inferiority complex on their wrist and hate SMU because they all wish they went to SMU.

I geuss SMU's average SAT score of around 250 points higher than the average student at NTSU is an abberation and the LAW/BUSINESS rankings are made up ??? Hell, even SMU's little ole Engineering school still has the highest ranked Electrical Engineering program in the north texas area and higher than Texas Tech and UTD ( of course NTSU's vocational programs in "Technology" dont qualify with their emphasis on DEVRY fundamentals ).

Talk about arrogant NTSU folk. Geez..

Congratulations on all of that. Which of your outstanding rankings prevents blocked punts? Can the people in your electrical engineering department prevent our quarterback from shredding your defense? And don't make fun of our "Devry" students...they keep the scoreboard running so that we can record the 24 points on the home side and the fluke 6 on the other.

Maybe some of your law and business students should suit up next time, ya think?

(Just as an aside, this is directed at ponyfanwest who can go straight to hell...the rest of you, good luck with your season)

NTS has nearly 30,000 students, so that's a decent turnout for their game of the century.

Estimates are running at about 4,000 - 5,000 Sam Houston State fans next Saturday. Student population at SHSU is about 15,000. Some will make the drive, some won't. The Interfraternity Council - in its infinite wisdom - picked next Saturday as Bid Day for the Fall Rush. However, the Greeks aren't as prominent at SHSU as they are at SMU so it won't make that much of a difference. The 'die hard' Bearkat fans will be there.

Stop it. Won't be easy for either team.

Hey, be careful you will be geriatric quicker than you realize. I do not know how you define the term but us 1960's Mustangs do show up not only for football but for all sport at SMU. And yes we have many weekend options (I would not be surprised if I have a lot more than you do), but choose to support SMU whenever we can.

Bill: I meant no disrespect by the 'geriatric' comment. If it weren't for them there would be a LOT less SMU fans in the stands on Saturdays. Heck, I will soon have my AARP card, too.
