Somebody wanted Houston last year; that is all I am saying.

Jeez, there are five games left and we have the best record through seven games in twenty years.

My original post does not advocate firing PB at any record. I don't think it is too early, though, to speculate about what happens in the scenarios I mentioned. The NTSU and UTEP losses have already occurred, and they could play a role in whether PB stays or goes.

Yeah but, correct me if I am wrong, Houston has had more than one winning season in the last twenty years, right?

I will be very surprised if UAB finishes 6-6.

That entire Division is a mess and it is especially doubtful that the East can produce more than a single bowl eligible team especially if SMU in particular beats UAB which is the team with the second best record. Similarly, beating ECU would give them 5 losses making a bowl run from 2-5 very unlikely. Because these horrible teams play each other one of these teams may rally but its pathetic over in the East. However, if an East team does making it to 6-6 they may be chosen over SMU because there are bowls in Mobile, Birmingham which are closer to the East and those schools likely will bring more fans.

This might be the first time I have ever agreed with Stallion.

Good post. You are absolutely right.

I also agree with Stallion, but our job #1 is to take care of business with the East Division foes, ECU and UAB. After that I would say we will be bowling. I pull for the West in every game because I believe if we have beaten all three of our opponents from the East, we will be in a bowl. Otherwise, we will need to be 7-5 or better.

2 years ago sports illustrated did an article on sanctions the NCAA has handed out over the years... focused a lot on SMU. Had a picture of Bartel in a game, and the first page of the article had a SMU football player sitting on a horse... i'll see if i can find it

I do remember reading that article but being that it was almost 4 years ago, I am going to have to find it. It talked about Bama and what Fran was about to inherit.

LOOKS like the SI jinx got coverboy Brian Brohm from UL with a broken thump.

Stallion is right on the money here. The eastern side of CUSA is really weak this year, but they draw much better than the west. SMU has really been exposed since the break-up of the SWC. For as long as I can remember, we've ALWAYS relied on our visitors to fill our stadium. Bowls want to sell tickets and fill their stadiums and SMU hasn;t shown we can do that
