Saftey is the weak link. The corners play soft because they have no deep coverage. We have all seen the guys running free on the sidelines because the safties don't cover over fast enough.
How much PT is David Haynes getting? How many LBs have lost starting spots? It is because the weakness of the D is at saftey.

So, either:
1) UAB is primarily a running team, so essentially playing two SS is not a bad thing.
or
2) Hudman has the ability to play FS, which would be huge. Tyler Jones, IMHO looked like he has the ability to be a great SS, it would be nice if those two aren't at the same position.
Goode was a top JUCO...

He was a JUCO but wasn't heavily recruited. I think he was less of a project than Makinde? But I don't remember the details.

Goode was a 2-star recruit out of Navarro. Was exactly the same size in Dec. 2004 as he is now. Other schools in the running were powerhouse SW Mo. State (now just plain Mo. State) and New Mexico

I played against Hudman in HS. He was a runningback then and if there's one word for him it's FEARLESS. He pancaked our 240 pound D-end on two consecutive plays. Had 2 tds and 130 or so yards against us - pretty much singlehandedly won the game.
He's a beast of an athlete and was a killing machine as a RUNNINGBACK. Heads should have no reason not to roll with him on defense.
At least we don't live in Lubbock.

And as to what my brother said about whether or not he can hit...
We had a big open-field collision (I was a MLB) and both os uf were taken out of the game. I had a concussion and nerve damage down the left side of my neck and was essentially worthless the rest of that season until I could rehab, and he would later find out he cracked a rib. He was out of the game for a total of 3 plays.
At least we don't live in Lubbock.

Found this in Hudman's bio on the PF.com Recruiting Roundup from 2005:
"I actually wanted to play on defense in college. Running the ball is great, it's fun to score a touchdown, but I love hitting people. I like pass coverage, but I really love coming in and sealing holes, coming in on safety blitzes. I just love hitting people....
".... Defense is more 'me' because that's where you get to hit people, and I've always enjoyed knocking people around. Where else can you destroy people and not get in trouble for it? Contact is my friend."
How can you not love this guy's attitude?
Good luck Tuesday, Bryce. Rattle some UAB skulls!

I remember doing that interview. The "contact is my friend" sent me into hysterics!
