Despite what half of you are saying, I thought James/Saunders/Flutie were a disgrace and hope they never set foot on SMU campus again. I want to hear and watch the players on the game that I am interested in watching. Give these kids the spotlight they deserve. They're not on national tv every week like Ohio State or Texas or USC.
If you want to be entertained, turn to ABC and watch Lost or whatever else is on Tuesday night.

If ESPN gave schools like SMU the spotlight they deserved SMU would never be on national TV again. Tuesday Night Football is a promotion of ESPN Thursday and Weekend Football-that's about it. Its a 3 Hour Commercial. SMU wouldn't be on National TV otherwise.

That's a ridiculous point of view. The Rogers, Morstead pieces were great. And that's the kind of coverage you're going to get out of a NATIONAL TELECAST. It has to appeal to all parts of the country.

If you want the local version, you should have turned down the sound and listened to the radio broadcast.

How is that a load of [deleted]? Do you EVER watch Tuesday night games? Even before this crew, nothing has ever been different. I was impressed that they focused on the game as much as they did! And with CJ in the booth, we did get a lot more PR than we would have with any other crew. Too many of you have nothing to do but whine whine whine.. we actually get POSITIVE coverage for once, we win on national tv, and you're still [deleted] ? Shut up!

As the old saying goes, As long as you spell my name correctly write whatever you want to write. Although to be perfectly honest I would rather not see my name near the word "pedophile" or "pederast".

Would you have been happier if the Robot was shooting Aggies, Sand Aggies, Baptists, Purple Frogs, or Tea Sips? I know that I would like to build one of those robots if it could eliminate the previously mentioned varmints.

To provide clarity, which unfortunately is needed, I thought they stuck to the game pretty well and we got some good publicity, while talking about the upcoming game(s). And if Mr. Recruiting wants to call the Tuesday night game a 3-hour infomercial for the other games, then that's his problem.

It's a bogus point of view.

You're right-now ESPN is doing a College Basketball commercial too by having Rick Pitino on an extended visit in the Press Box during the West Virginia/Louisville Game. They also brought in Lee Corso. Now they brought in some guy named Hank talking about gambling and the Breeders Cup-and we;re just into the second quarter in a game between the No. 3 and No. 5 teams in the country. I wonder who is televising the Breeders Cup? Let me give you a hint it starts with ESP which you don't have to have to know to see that these games are simply commercials for ther weekend TV coverage and SportsCenter. Tells me a lot of the complaints about the SMU game were just as anyone that watches their games know-simply standard operating procedure.

I totally agree. I was actually quite pleased with the coverage we got. They stuck mainly to the game (with the exception of their normal plugs for other things going on). They screwed up names only a handful of times; I can't really tell you if that's normal for teams that they rarely cover because I don't know the names of the players many other teams' players either. I think Craig James really made up for the comments he made earlier in the year; he said he was very proud of SMU, even saying on multiple occasions that there is an excellent education to be had at SMU. If anything he was biased towards us. An impartial commentator would have never said that we should be dominating our conference with 10-2, 11-1 records. ...I sure hope those days are right around the corner.

I just watched the ESPN broadcast. This was the most positive coverage I have seen for an SMU game. If anything, if I were a UAB fan, I'd be very disappointed because they basically ignored UAB with the exception of the obligatory segue to the Mack Brown interview.

Here are a few things I recall:
1. Talked about the improvement under Bennett
2. Morestead's drop kicking
3. Willis play station practice
4. Justin Roger's odd lifestyle and transition in size
5. History of SMU - Pony Express/Holiday Bowl/Craig James
6. Lots of "scenery" shots and flattering shots of crowd
7. Interview with Matt Doherty
8. CJs soapbox about how SMU should dominate CUSA - which I think we all agree with

If I am totally ignorant of SMU or a recruit, I come away with a pretty positive view of SMU.

Of course they are going to plug upcoming events, but that never detracted from the game - which at times, was kind of slow.
