We will need about 3 Turnovers and take advantage to win the game. We've done a good job on picking up some special and defensive teams points this year-it would help to have some more against UH. Against Division 1A schools SMU is averaging 20.2 offensive points per game. Take out Sun Belt ASU and we are averaging 16.9 offensive points a game. In CUSA we are averaging 21.4 offensive points per game.

I agree that we cannot get into a shootout with the Coogs. If we do, we will lose. However, I do not want to see PB go into ultra conservative, put his tail between his legs mode. Establishing the running game is important but we must take our shots deep. I feel like in the UAB game we reverted back to our "play not to lose" mentality on offense somewhat and we can't so the same againt UH.

I don't know what we were doing defensively against UTEP (maybe it was them), but that is the game we need to play. Lots of bending, little breaking.

Without question, we are taking advantage of turnovers and special teams and that will need to continue to beat Houston.

Not surprisingly, that describes last year's game. SMU gave up more than 400 yards; Kolb was good but had a costly turnover.

We have to play to win. Controlling the clock hasn't worked for us in the past we have to go in guns blazing.

Step #1: Willis & Co. need to hold on to the football.

Step#2: Play 60 minutes of football like you WANT TO WIN.

Step #3: O-Line needs to give protection to Willis AND needs to make some holes for DM and JM (and keep them open for longer than .0004 seconds. WE MUST ESTABLISH THE RUNNING GAME.

Step #4: After #3 is working, AIR THAT MUTHA OUT.

UTEP is really one of the worst second half ballclubs in America going back to at least the SMU game last year. I think that's what we did right-showed up for the second half. The blundering Miners have only played one half of Football in just about every game this year.

What I really want to see is the playbook opened up. When we get second and one, don't throw a screen pass or run off tackle (we did both against UAB). Air it out. Run a gadget play.

Stallion will love this. I have this vision we can use Phillips in the next three weeks. Line him up in the backfield, at WR, at TE.

That's funny because I visualized Phillips at TE taking a reverse hand off and throwing downfield. Coming back later with the same play and throwing back to Willis similar to the Eckert/Romo play a year or two ago.
