I would like to hear some reasoning for this argument. I for one think a playoff system would be great, and can't think of an argument against them.
Let's see: playoffs are in place for basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. I think football is the only one without a playoff system at the Div. 1-A level. Div. 1-AA, Div. II and Div. III all have playoff systems in place. Why shouldn't Div. 1-A have a playoff system, too?
