Charge me $1 a head for the Ponyfans section and I can have her bring 10 kids to the game. I might be able to convince a few of my son's friends as well. For a $1 a kid I might be able to bring my son's football team to the game. I can promise you that every kid that shows up is buying at least $10 worth of crap. I bet that if we had our own section we could sell another 500 tickets without really trying. Then we can drag all these people to the BLVD and show them what a great time we have out there. Had a co-worker working on her MBA at SMU go to the Halloween game. Told her to hit the BLVD before the game. She is a Sand Aggie so I had to explain the whole BLVD thing to her. She came back the next day and was carrying on about how great the BLVD is. We just need to find a way to get the people to the games and the BLVD.

Speaking of that, I have noticed a couple of gentlemen sitting in the same section as I (104) wearing ponyfan.com T shirts. They seem to be in my age bracket (between the birth of water and dirt). Apparently there is some kind of organized effort (or was at some time) to have a ponyfans.com group.

All right... I am doing my part. (Would you like to know more?)

Called a high school buddy who attended SMU Law. He can't make it for Houston, but committed for Tulsa. Called an industry buddy of mine (who I met through SMU as he spent three years teaching a class in the spring semester), he's an SMU grad who lives in Dallas, and am pretty sure he hasn't gone to a game since he was in school. (Left message.) Called my old next door neighboor... both he and his wife went to SMU and both of ther kids are in college/grad school elsewhere... he should have no nagging commitments. (Left message.)

Still trying to come up with more. I have heeded the call of the Blog, will you?

I sent my second e-mail to five fraternity brothers just now. Maybe they will come; maybe they won't. I tried.

FordtoTolbert wrote:"..dangle free Stars tickets at him and he will find a way there.." The Stars games are FUN!! The Stars games are exciting!! The Stars WIN, and win CHAMPIONSHIPS!! and in the "Dallas mode of thinking", Stars games are a "seen and be seen" affair......what don't you get about all of this. Blog? Did you watch that game Tuesday night? Seriously watch it? Was it any of the following..cool / exciting / fun / "happenin', to the non PonyFans .com ite out there?? The answer is NO!

I have called my buds and pals...nobody cares anymore, bro...haven't for a long time (15++ years).

I am a former season ticket holder to fball & bball / Mustang Club board member / ACTIVELY involved in the MC Fund drives / SMU hat wearn' fool / flag wavin' / bumper sticker displayin' / road trip takin' FAN...guess what? They have about lost me!! So, if a guy like me has about had it, how in the name of Reggie Dupard do you expect the other 90% types out there to react?

BEAT UH!!

Jeez, all I am saying is if you are going to the game, invite somebody that went to SMU to go with you. And, yes, I enjoyed watching an almost unwatchable football game. I enjoyed watching Mapps run it in for a TD with an umpa lumpa jumping up and down on the sideline; I enjoyed watching Hawkins run a pick back for a TD. I enjoyed cheering and talking to friends. I enjoyed the band. Most of all, I liked watching SMU win.

You know optomistic Stallion thought of this same line of thinking in the last few days. The school is not going to promote these last few games in any meaningful way. It really needs to be a grass roots type of thing as you say. Just yesterday I was thinking that ponyfans could start it off by creating an e-mail database of SMU graduates or just send a personal plea to SMU alums in their own e-mail contact list. Hell send the Blogs We Want You Poster and message. If UH beats Tulsa tell them to get off their [deleted] and support the team in a Championship Race. It might actually get read if it was sent by fellow friends rather than just the official Athletic Department reminder

For the record, at the Halloween game I brought two Aggies, two Baylor grads (one of them, my girlfriend, drove down from Frisco), an Auburn grad, and one other guy where I really don't know where he went. Six extra butts in the seats. The reason that most of them came was because the game was not on the same day as their team was playing. Encourage people that didn't come to SMU games to come when their team isn't on tv or when their team has a bye week.

Also, for the record...
Two SMU alumni friends are making Homecoming their first SMU game since they were Juniors. One of them told me that it was because I have continued to talk about how good SMU is becoming.

Great idea. I'll make a couple of phone calls and see if this can be done.

You would think that the online ordering system could have the Promo code Ponyfans setup and let's see just how many tickets we can sell and how many butts we can put into section 207 since I like all the space I have over in 206 squatting with the Blog.

Blog I like it...rally the troops. I am a PMBA and am constantly jabbering about SMU's upcoming game and trying to get people to the Blvd and hte game.

For the first time this past thursday, people were actually interested in when the next game is and committing to go. Even have one guy who is going to give up SEC tickets to cheer on SMU. The word is being spread and hopefully it will just keep growing.

Also should mention that walked by four guys debating what bowl games are actually tied into the CUSA and which one they think SMU will go to...BRILLIANT I tell you

I just want to make a note about the Tulsa game.... I would have to guess that the two largest alumni contingents in Dallas are SMU and UT - if you want to argue that, fine... but it down't water down the point I am about to make.

November 18 is a bye for the Longhorns. How many UT friends do you alums have in Dallas? A lot I am sure.... how many of you students have friends who currently go to UT? Plenty.

Here's why both sets are important... Alumni... invite your UT alum friends to the Tulsa game. Students invite your buds up from Austin for the double dip. SMU game on Saturday, and Cowboys v. Colts on Sunday.

Seriously. And if Houston can win tomorrow, and then SMU beats Houston the following Saturday (big IFs, I know), then it shouldn't be too hard of a sell.

Good idea to put them in 207. I need to keep my legroom in 206.

Alright, Blog, it's on. I'll bite. Shark-sized (jt, that was for you).
To hell w/ sunshine or not; it's time now for the proverbial good ole college try. It's a Charlie Brown-Lucy-kick-the-football kind of risk, but now is the time, or we won't get another chance for awhile.

I'll "chainmail" anybody and everybody that I know who went to SMU or who follows the school and remind them about the 11th. Marshall TX, where I live, is the home of Coaches Bennett as well as numerous other alumni. I am a business banker here, and I am about to stick my neck out and call every alumni that I know who lives here and notify them about Saturday, and if they have season tickets (which many do but do not use them), they need to GO TO THE GAME!!!

Whether Houston beats Tulsa or not, this is only the second of chances we have had to turn it around for real in the last 20 years. The last one crashed and burned w/ the faculty's obstinence and Steve Malin's idiocy.

I'll bite. My chips are all in...win, lose, or draw.

Now if we can just get the athletic office to grab these efforts and do something with them. Too damned buttoned-down.

Brad Sutton, if you read this, then it's time to get to it. You have one week to put 25M+ butts in seats on Saturday, November 11th. Time to get a move on.

I don't want to hear it can't be done. I hear that every day, dammit. I don't care how sunshining it is; we should, for once, give it our full support and really try. I'll give up later.

But for this exercise, I'm in.

Go Houston, Beat Tulsa!
Go SMU, Beat Houston!

How about one of you graphic artist GENIUSES come up with an Official Ponyfans Invitation that could be forwarded to people in our Contact List via e-mail. Include that Uncle Sam Wants You poster on Blog's Blog. It also would be great advertisement for this message board. God knows we need some new blood.

For the record: I provided tickets for a U.T. grad (went there after failing at SMU); an SMU grad, his wife (Oklahoma State grad) and daughter (currently considering schools...SMU is on the list, I believe); an SMU alum (lives in West Virginia) and a relative of his; and my twin stepdaughters brought six friends. And, of course, BornRed&Blue and I were there, too.

My stepdaughters have brought friends to every home game this year and the Mustangs have WON! I will make ABSOLUTELY sure that they continue to do this on Nov. 11 and Nov. 18th! Their record is intact!
